Low hcg levels

Hi,
I found out I was pregnant over a week ago, working out the dates of the first day of last period would of made me 4weeks+5. I started bleeding around 5+1, light pink spotting, which over the next few days turned to dark red. Had mild cramping, ended up going to the early pregnancy unit, where she did an internal scan and couldn’t see any sign of pregnancy and did blood work on me, called me back first thing in the morning with the unfortunate news of low hcg levels of 71. She told me it could be a case of my dates are wrong and I’m earlier than I think, but then went on to tell me she’s quite adamant I’m having a miscarriage. Been told to go back in a weeks time to check hcg levels again but told me “don’t get your hopes up” which really knocked me. Has anybody had a similar situation and had a successful story? Clutching onto anything at the moment Sad

I really feel for you. I had a similar situation, and actually it really helped me after the first low-ish hcg test when my husband said "I think we have to say that this one hasn't stayed". I burst into tears, had a large glass of wine, but sort of had accepted it by the time I got the second hcg result which was basically down to zero. This definitely made it easier than clinging on to the hope. The next month, nothing, but the one after that... I am now 18 weeks... x

It’s so hard getting your head around the potential loss when you’re experiencing all the pregnancy symptoms isn’t it. I’m almost adamant I feel pregnant, but I think I’m just holding onto anything. Partners family has a very strong twin gene, 4/7 siblings have carried twins but lost 1 and 1 stayed, so I’m being told this could be happening, when really, I feel this is also false hope :( Thankyou for responding and congratulations x
