Hiya! This might be a little bit confusing but please bear with me. I've had 3 scans during my pregnancy already (I'm a worrier and with the pandemic, my NHS scan was pushed back through no fault of their own) all of my scans date back to the 15th of august, on 3rd October my scan put me at 7 weeks exactly and then the 24th October put me at exactly 10 weeks however the father of the child made a good point that he wasn't in the country at the time (he returned around the 27th) but can some please help me explain to him how and why I got pregnant almost 2 weeks before I thought I should have (based on the dates we had sex)?! I'm so sorry if this makes me sound stupid, we've had 2 children before and I don't know why the scans are saying I fell pregnant then. I went for my NHS scan on Friday (13th yikes) which put me at 13w2d and again dates back to him being away. Please can someone shed some light? Thank you so much.

Scans add 2 weeks to the date of conception as they date roughly from the first day of your last period and most women ovulate around 2 weeks later.

When they give you say 10 weeks at a scan, this includes the 2 weeks free pass. So at 10 weeks, your conception date is approximately 8 weeks prior, give or take. This is also depending on how the baby has been growing. If he/she had a growth spurt before the scan it can put you further along. Vice versa hope that helps

And even taking the 2 weeks away it's not an exact date so your partner should keep that in mind

Pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last period and you usually ovulate 2 weeks after your period starts. So when you're '6 weeks pregnant' you're actually 4 weeks since conception.

If they've put you at 13 weeks pregnant, you conceived around 11 weeks ago. Although if you've already had children you probably know that! Just thought that could explain it

By the weeks pregnant you are you would have conceived around the 29th august

Just realised I already answered this on your other thread 2 weeks ago when you asked the same question.
