Should I call the EPU again?

Hi everyone, just looking for a bit of advice. I'm currently 7+5 weeks. I have been having intermittent brown spotting starting from 6 weeks, nothing heavy but it wasn't settling. This is my second pregnancy and I had none whatsoever with my first so I was pretty unnerved!
I called the EPU a couple of times and they got me in for a scan on Monday which showed no obvious source of bleeding and two (!!!!) babies in individual sacs, both measuring correctly with heartbeats. Obviously we were relived albeit completely shocked to be expecting twins!

Last night I had more bleeding and this time it was red. No pain or clots and it was only ever when I wiped but it's really upset me. This morning it's brown but still there. Should I call the EPU back? I don't really know what else they can do.
It just feels like an age to wait for my 12 week scan!
Thanks in advance!

You could always call them but in my experience they won't scan you again so soon, they like to wait a week or two at least to see growth

@EllieJai44 Thanks for messaging back! I think I'll phone them and at least just get some advice as they never actually told me what to do if I had anymore - as soon as my scan was okay then literally just sent me home from the waiting room!

Yes, your symptoms have changed so call them back for some advice at least. I have twins who are 4 now and I was so glad I didn’t find out until 12 weeks as I would have been a nervous wreck. Light bleeding can have various causes and isn’t necessarily anything bad as you’ve already found, but definitely worth getting some advice if things seem to have worsened.

I had some bleeding in early pregnancy and when I went for a scan they told me to ignore brown blood but to call if it turned red again. Obviously I've no idea if that was just advice specific to me that day and certainly not suggesting it means anything is wrong for you, but I would say a change in the bleeding is a perfectly valid reason to call, even if it's just for a bit of reassurance x

Hope everything is ok, don't think they'll scan again so soon but you could go private for peace of mind. I hate the brown/red blood 'rule' I had a mmc at 14 weeks with no bleeding at all then tiny bits of brown and my healthy baby I bled bright red with clots from 7-19 weeks! X

I had exactly the same - brown spotting so had a scan, no issues. A few weeks later it was red when I wiped so I called EPU and they offered to rescan, which I went to on Tuesday. They did find a small issue but nothing that's hurting the baby right now. I would give them a call.

Hi Op,

I had this also started bleeding at 6 weeks and continued until I was 13 weeks. I was told to only go back if clots appeared. How ever just before my 12 week scan the bleeding seemed to increase so they did ask me to go back in and I did end up passing one smallish clot but everything was fine with little one I just had a bleed on my womb xx

Thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate it.
I've called and left a message and then they phone you back. I'll update as to what they say!

Hello, I just wanted to give an update in case anyone else reading this wanted to know.
They called me back and were lovely. The bleeding has now resolved but if it starts again I'm to call back and if it has been over a week since my last scan then they will consider scanning again.
I'm hoping that will be the end of it but it's good to know I can call back and they may have another look if needed 😊
