Hi,
I'm pregnant with second baby. I loved breast feeding my son but found it very overwhelming that all the pressure was on me, so i'd like to express and give bottle feeds too.

But the bottles you can buy..! I have no idea where to start. Can you help? Are there any particular bottles or types of bottle that are a good match for breastfed babies? And anti colic.. Is that good?

Sorry I'm a bit clueless!

Also any experience of doing this would be fab

I'm currently in the exact situation! And let me tell you it's soooo much easier with someone helping every now and then with a bottle! Especially when you have another little one to look after.
We just have the small 150ml Tommee tippee bottles, you can get anti colic ones.
I'm breast feeding and using formula with these bottles and he's took to the bottles absolutely fine, and no fuss going onto my boob either!

Good luck

I combi fed my eldest and EBF my youngest. In my experience EBF was so much easier once established.

My biggest tip for doing with with a younger child is having your partner do everything else. They are 100% on older child duty and they take charge of running the house. For me that was much more help than sorting a bottle, expressing the milk, and then just watch someone else feed the baby.

As for bottles though, my eldest swapped between Philips avent bottles and breastfeeds without any issues. Anti colic bottles aren't needed.

What ever bottle you get just keep trying with that one rather than trying hundreds of different ones. Also feed the bottle using paced feeding.

My youngest refused all bottles. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Some babies will, some won't

I breast an bottle fed. I did boob when he wasnt taking enough milk so had to pump! He's 10mo an he's now on proper milk, such a chunk he is
I used tommee tippee ones because I guess their fat tops are like my boobs haha ! He didn't bother with the change he was fine with it. And I found the best pump was just a cheap one off Amazon think I paid about 25 for the walk about pump. I got the tomes tippee one , used it once and that was it!

I’m breastfeeding my 17 day old and brought Minbie bottles so I can express and partner can do some feeds. They stop any nipple confusion and my little boy is fine with them.

Im getting a few off my sister which self sterilise in the microwave. Just need to buy new teats for them. And hope for the best! also planning to express

Everyone has their favourite bottles so buy one or two then buy more if your baby likes them.

I mixed fed including expressed breast milk and tried loads of different bottles out. What I found with my DD is that she like newborn tests on the bottles until she stopped using bottles, and actually preferred cheap bottles e.g. Boots, Adsa rather than any named make.

Oh and as a PP said get your partner to do all the bottle feeds initially. It stops them rooting for your breasts and refusing the bottle.

teats not tests

I used mam bottles, you don’t need a separate steriliser. Also used the mam dummies.
