Hi, just wondered if labours follow a pattern? My previous two were spontaneous labours and born 14 and 9 days early respectively and just curious if anyone had the same with their third or if baby was overdue?

First was 2 weeks late , 2nd was 7 days early and 3rd was 6 days late! First I had to have waters broke and he came about 3 hours later. Dd2 I had her as I got to the hospital car park. She was NOT waiting around, number 3 my waters broke and he arrived the following day! xx

Highheels87 · 22/11/2020 18:07

@spidermomma that’s surprising with your third. As soon as my waters went with my second the birth swiftly followed. Hope you weren’t contracting that whole time afterwards as I remember contractions got really intense

All been so different!! Second birth started as getting pains- so thought get kids to school an get a bath. Soon as my ass touched the water I needed to push so literally jumped into the car an she was born soon as I hit the car park. Waters popped as her head came out ! The last one I was lay on sofa an shouted to DP "holy shit I can't stop weeing, come get the kids (was lay on me asleep) went hospital got checked and was 4cm but no pains or anything then about 12 hours later I had the contractions (7am) he was born 2 hours later ! Didn't enjoy his birth as much as I had to lay on my back. Dd I was on my knees an found it so much more comfortable!
Good luck though, when are you due xx

Highheels87 · 22/11/2020 19:33

@spidermomma that sounds so scary! They don’t give us much warning do they when they are ready to enter the world 😂 I’ve been looking at positions too incase I can’t have water again like my second and knees sounds like the best option! Never understood them lying women on our backs it’s a huge struggle when pushing which is why I really want to try to avoid an epidural again. I’m due in February and I’m literally counting down the days. Feel like I’ve been pregnant forever this time and struggling with walking already lol. Are you expecting?

Iv never had chance to have a water birth reallt but so jealous. And I know it was so god damn hard I just couldn't get the position right to push. I literally said to the midwife get off me an let me push. I grabbed my knees pulled them up as high as I could an he was straight out ! He's 9mo now so that's me done for a while haha, and it's awful when you can't walk, then you're stuck in with lockdown an kids to entertain it's worst and scariest time to be pregnant for sure ! X

1st DS 10 days early 10 hour labour
2nd SD 3 days early 15 hour labour
3rd DD 7 days early 5 hour labour

Bythepath · 22/11/2020 20:00

DC1 on due date 5 hour labour
DC2 2 days early, less than an hour from first twinge
DC3 4 days early, less than an hour from contractions starting but waters had gone a few hours before.

calimommy · 22/11/2020 21:08

I feel like the opposite of everyone who wants to be upright or on their knees. Everytime the midwife has tried to get me on all fours to push but it intensifies the pain x100 and I cannot tolerate it. For all three I've been sort of foetal position on my side 😂

Highheels87 · 22/11/2020 22:01

@spidermomma ahhh lovely babies first Christmas too how exciting! I’ll have to try to remember that too knees back lol! Honestly water births are amazing and would really recommend it if you do get the option in the future. I’ll be gutted if I can’t have another as I know just much I loved it. I’ve got to have an extra scan in a couple of weeks to check on baby. I’m hoping all is ok otherwise will be moved to consultant led and midwife led unit will be a no go let alone a water birth. Main thing is baby arrives safely and the reality is when it comes to it we do anything we have to for our babies Grin

@Nicklebox @Bythepath that’s what I like to see lol not going over and nice quick labours! Fingers crossed I get the same

Highheels87 · 22/11/2020 22:07

@calimommy I’ve not even considered being on the side to be honest I wouldn’t know what to do with my leg 😂 I’ve not been on all fours either 🙈 it’s only been on my back or leant over the pool. I’ve been watching so many birth videos to see different positions but the one that makes me cringe is a birthing stool I can just imagine tearing on there for some strange reason!

It's never been a decision, I can't speak for other women, but I feel like you end up positioning yourself unconsciously. Whatever gives you relief 🤷‍♀️

Lilice · 23/11/2020 01:55

Dc1 37+4
Dc2 38+9
Dc3 38+9
My 3rd was also a quick labour, active stage lasted under an hour and I pushed baby out in 3 minutes. No time for any pain relief

spidermomma · 23/11/2020 03:01

Well i have everything crossed for you for your water birth op!! Not nice this pandemic that's ruined a lot of women's experiences and I couldn't imagen doing it and it been my first I'd be mortified ! And I know first Christmas but it's awful as his birthday really isn't long after so what on earth do we get him? He has 3 presents and that's for both 🤣 as I literally have smyths shop in the play room from the other dc I never given away and then other people have got him things too, must admit everyone has got him clothes for his birthday as we're Ment to be going on holiday next year ... not likely at this rate but hey it's useful! Think I may get him the little tiles climbing frame an he's done! Dont think I'll be having any more for a while though. Cost a fortune x

First baby 38 weeks
Second baby 38 weeks
3rd baby 37 weeks Smile
@Frannibananni oh wow 29 weeks how is little one now? A sibling had all hers early 26weeks, 29weeks and 37weeks. All thankfully are healthy and you wouldn’t know!
He’s fine, a bit uncoordinated 😄 but so are my husband and I. He is nearly a teenager and keeps up at school. We were lucky that he had no ongoing health problems and him being our first made it easier.

Nicklebox · 23/11/2020 12:04

Middle one felt like a long time was particularly painful as he was back to back. lol Also the midwife had to break my waters every time, which does speed things up a bit.

Highheels87 · 23/11/2020 20:35

@spidermomma know what you mean I’m so glad this isn’t my first as I’d be petrified. A lot has been phone appointments and things have been missed with myself that I’ve had to constantly chase. My eldest is very close to Xmas too and I’ve always struggled with presents. At that age your little one will probably love to just mess with a box lol. I’ve not got one single thing for Xmas so far I’m so unorganised this year! At this rate I’ll be giving mine both a box to play with too 😂

OP posts:
spidermomma · 23/11/2020 21:08

Hey a box and some pens, we have the best days haha!!
He loves a box been in one all day if I'm honest lol he has enough and you have enough to figure out with a baby on the way in this pandemic. You'll get their in the end !! Xx

Icanflyhigh · 23/11/2020 21:27

My first was 2 weeks late and induced, 2nd 2 weeks early and spontaneous and 3rd born on due date after losing plug, bleeding and having waters broken in hospital by accident when they were checking for dilation!
