Did you go into labour at a similar time to your mother?

My mum's first labour started when her waters broke with a gush at 39 weeks, then she gave birth the next day. Up until that point she was still working and had no signs of anything getting ready at all. I'm hoping I'm similar to her as I've had no signs yet!

Were you similar?

Nope. My mum had 3 babies born at 39 weeks. MIL had 3 babies born at 39 weeks. I had 2 babies born at 41 weeks. It was a long wait first time round!

Yes! Both of us gave birth a couple of weeks early, waters broke before any noticeable contractions, and waters breaking to delivery was under 8 hours for both of us. Her sister had a very similar experience too.

My Mum had her babies at 38 and 35 weeks. Mine were born at 42 and 41 weeks. We do both seem to have enormous baby boys.

My labours were nothing like my mum's, thank goodness. She was in labour with me for 20 something hours before she had a crash section. With my brother she begged not to have section and didn't, but ended up with a full episiotomy and forceps delivery and her recovery was awful. The only thing I have in common with her is going past the edd, but all the women in our family seem to. I spent less time in labour with all three of my children combined than she did on her shortest labour alone, the woman deserves awards.

No mum had births at 37 weeks, then 38+4 and then 42 weeks.
I had mine at 39+5 then 37 weeks.

My mum had me at 38 weeks, I had DS at 39+1. She had a much worse time of it giving birth - forceps, which created issues that still affect her now. This did scare me a bit when I was pregnant but thinking about it we were never likely to have identical experiences because she's 5'2 and I'm 5'10 and I weighed 1.5lbs more than DS, so no wonder it all went more smoothly for me!

No but then my own two labours/births were not even similar including the fact one was early and one was late.

Bubbletrouble43 · 17/11/2020 22:51

I arrived soon after midnight at the very beginning of my due date, but my dd was almost 2 weeks late. Both deliveries were similar in length though, a nice quick 2 hours.

mnahmnah · 17/11/2020 22:53

Nope. I was two weeks early. My brother was two weeks late. Both my dc were two days over

MaverickDanger · 17/11/2020 23:23

My mum was 38 weeks bang on with me, 40+3 with my sister and 39+4 with my brother.

My sister was 38 weeks with her daughter, so I’m hoping my first is also slightly earlier.

Mummyme87 · 17/11/2020 23:31

My mam had me 42+1 spontaneous 6hr labour, my sister a bit longer but 41+weeks, spontaneous, quick.

Me, IOL with DS1 at 41+1, EMCS, and DS2 IOL 39+4, normal labour length
