Hi,
Is it better to go through family courts for the fathers child maintenance

Having just had an utterly awful experience with family court I would only ever advise avoiding them at all costs!!!!

Have you tried just going directly with the child maintenance service? I have a difficult relationship with my ex and we couldn’t sort it amicably so I went through CMS and they sorted it all out. They also take the payment from him if he isn’t willing to sort it out himself and charge him extra for the pleasure.

They prefer you to arrange it yourselves where possible otherwise cms

You can't go through the court unless the other parent is a very high earner (£160k per year). CMS is your best bet. Good luck!
