Hi OP, so sorry you're going through this. I think in your shoes I'd call either the local Early Pregnancy Unit or 111, to get some proper advice.

I haven't had a MC myself but know many who have and I think it's important to be seen and checked at some point - there can be complications including infection afterwards, which you'd want someone to be keeping an eye out for.

On the other hand, some mums do bleed in early pregnancy without losing the baby - I had what they call 'implantation bleeding' with my second pregnancy and he cooked just fine and turned up on his due date very healthy.

Getting some medical advice would be good, basically - wish you all the best X

Hi @Luckylola12 sorry to hear this. I'm not 8 weeks and have had bleeding since 5 weeks so know how you feel. Ring your Early Pregnancy Unit (or 111 and they could potentially refer you). I had to wait until I was 6 weeks for the EPU to scan me as they don't tend to scan earlier than that. It's just a case of waiting I'm afraid 😣 If it gets really heavy and painful see someone ASAP.
🤞🏼

At 5 weeks there isn't much you can do except wait. If you're experiencing any pain, then seek medical attention (just in case it's a ectopic pregnancy). Otherwise, it's going to be another week at least before a scan could give any idea as to whether the pregnancy is viable.
It's a horrible waiting game but please know that a) there isn't anything you've done to cause this b) there's nothing you can do to stop it and c) lots of women experience bleeding in early pregnancy and go on to have a healthy baby at the end of it.
I've got my fingers crossed for you Thanks

As you are 5 weeks, the hormones should leave your system within a week or two of the bleeding starting. Therefore you should have a negative test at some point over the next few weeks.
However it is also possible to bleed, quite significantly actually, and the pregnancy still continue. There are many reasons bleeding can occur in pregnancy.
You can be more confident of a definite miscarriage if you have strong cramping, back pain, significant blood loss and clots. If it's just blood loss then keep an eye on it and contact your EPU to discuss.
Fingers crossed for you x

I had 3 miscarriages, all at 5 weeks. I didn't ring a doctor or anything as I just had this intense feeling that the pregnancy was over a day or two before I started bleeding each time. The bleeding stopped after about a week, and was like a normal period.

If you are worried etc, I would definitely ring a doctor. Is it period like bleeding, or just a bit?

Hope you are ok x

I was in your exact situation op, think I might have titled my thread exactly the same thing!

That was 6 months ago and I'm now 7 and a bit months pregnant, so it is absolutely not for sure that you are having a miscarriage! I actually bled continuously up to 11 weeks and spottily up to 23 weeks, and still have the odd spot now. Cause unknown but it is not hurting baby.

What you should do depends on the severity of the bleeding. If it is enough to soak a pad, call 111. Otherwise, call your GP, explain what's happening, and ask to be referred to the early pregnancy unit. It'll probably be booked in for about a week's time when the baby is a bit bigger. That was the route I went down and I was given a scan at 6.5 weeks gestation that showed a healthy little heartbeat.

Best of luck OP!

Thanks everyone i went to the hosptial and they took bloods and they were negative with hcg level 27. So they werent really clear and said it could have been a miscarrage or period. Which makes me feel worse. I had 2 positive tests, crazy sore boobs and constipation. Im sure i was pregnant

I don't know why they told you that - hcg of 27 means you were pregnant, though at 5 weeks almost certainly means it isn't viable, for which I'm really sorry.
