A mum-to-be I've only known a short time, who knows no other local mums, has just had her waters break, and she's in hospital till the birth. What sort of support should I give her, I'm a bit lost due to my own normal birth. And any gift suggestions? I just want to be as supportive as I possibly can!

I would say regular visits would be appreciated, some decent food sneaked in once in a while and stuff to do, like books, mags etc.

Hi lunavix - my waters broke at 37.5 weeks and the only support I could have done with whilst waiting for the inevitable would have been things to actually do. Hospital is sooooo boring when you're not ill but without a baby IYKWIM. I had loads of visitors at visiting time but bored out of my skull the rest of the time and I was only in for 6 days before they kicked me out with the compromise of me having to attend hosp each day to be assessed for infection.
