Harmony test worries

Hi all,
I've just heard that the lab was unable to provide results due to not enough fetal DNA in my blood.
They have asked me to come in for another blood test so that they can try again in 2 weeks.
Has anyone had their second blood test work?
If it doesn't work will I get a refund - this test cost me £400!
Thanks all

My first NIPT Panorama test for my twins came back insufficient dna when it was done just under 11 weeks. I had it redone at 13+2 and did get my result that time

whatdoyouthink1234 · 13/11/2020 16:34

@ivfbeenbusy I was 12+6 so it wasn't as if I was early...

I was told my someone they had to redraw at 14+3, it happens. I'm really sorry mama. I don't understand why you have to wait 2 weeks though, I would ask to have the redraw ASAP!

@frolicmum yeah, i said that, but they said to give time for the DNA to get more concentrated in my blood they recommend a 2 week wait between blood test. more waiting!

@frolicmum hello, yes it happened to me a week ago. They said they couldn’t find enough DNA in two samples and invited me for another blood test. I was already booked in for Amnio at the hospital and decided to ask for refund. I paid £500 for harmony and they have refunded £320 because I had a scan on a day that costs £180 Sorry you are going through this x

Sorry to hear about this OPK, I can see how the delay is difficult. From what I have read, about 5% of initial tests come back with this issue, and if repeated there is about a 50% chance of getting a result that second time. So less than when you had the initial attempt, but still hopeful. Maybe the odds will be better if you wait, I assume that is why they have advised it, but I agree, you weren't testing early.

Good luck with it, hope you get a result and a good one.

OP not OPK! Unless you have become an ovulation prediction kit OP!

I had 2 failed Harmony tests, they offered me a 3rd redraw at 20wks but I declined and got a partial refund. The stress it put me under was awful and I'd never choose to do it again.

With my first baby the initial test was inconclusive but the 2nd worked.
The laboratory actually told me it's much more common than they say to not get results.

whatdoyouthink1234 · 14/11/2020 07:00

@inkpaperstars haha! thanks for this. I hadn't planned to do the harmony test at all but baby was asleep during the 12 week scan with hands over where the sonographer needed to measure so just feels like everything is working against us at the moment.
Fingers crossed this is all a lot of stress over nothing!

@MaryShelley1818 that's interesting! I think I'll rebook the quad tests so I have something to fall back on.
I've been told I'll get a full refund if the second draw doesn't work so that's something!
