Did anyone take this when they were pregnant? I have been for the past couple weeks and just read that I should speak to my GP before taking! Bit worried now.

Hi pharmacist here, it has the drug docusate in it, which hasn’t got enough clinical data in it to use as a first choice in pregnant women. It works by bringing water to your stool to make it softer and has some stimulant activity. It’s not something to be overly concerned as long as you’ve not had any diarrhea as that can cause some electrolyte imbalances and dehydration. But do stop and go to your pharmacy and your pharmacist will recommend you a bulk forming laxative as these aren’t absorbed systemically and safe for use in pregnancy. If that doesn’t work go to your GP and they will prescribe laxatives for you.

Forgot to add some women do take it during pregnancy, so it is used and safe in many, just needs to be under medical supervision.
