Sorry to ask this... It's really embarrassing and I don't know where else to ask! If I squat down and look inside my vagina, it looks really bizarre. Almost like a brain! I showed my husband and he said it's never looked like that before. I'm 35 weeks pregnant. Is this normal?! What is it?! Thank you. Be kind!

Oh dear that will be stressing you out!! It’s impossible to know what’s going on, but it’s possible there’s a degree of prolapse given the weight of the baby on the pelvic floor. Or it could be nothing, that there’s just a different view into your vagina when you squat like that - how did this come about?!! Did you feel a sensation in your vagina that made you want to check?!

Thank you @merename - yes, it felt really swollen and under a lot of pressure when I was on the toilet so I checked it and now wished I hadn't!

I'm 37 weeks and mine also feels really swollen, again not sure if this is normal or not!

Another thing it could be is varicose veins - that’s probably what it is actually. Not pleasant but they should go away post birth no bother. It’s mental what happens to your body in pregnancy. Do you feel comfortable to show your midwife?

God I think if I'd squatted at 35 weeks pregnant I'd never have got up again.
