Confusion around AMH

Hi all,

I have been going through a bit of a fertility journey with recurrent miscarriages and all the [glorious] testing that goes on as a result.

I've had all my bloods done and slightly low progesterone, but will get treated for that when/if I fall pregnant again. I also had a scan and all was dandy in there, save for I 'only' had 10 follicles. As a result of the consultant saying I should have more at my age (32) I had my bloods down for AMH - which came back a 2.1ng.

The consultant said not to worry as it isn't 'too low' and doesn't indicate that I will have an issue in conceiving, but I did go on to Google the life out of AMH and everything I have received so far (including on Mumsnet) suggests that I may struggle to conceive naturally with AMH 2.1ng.

I've sent myself in to a panic that I maybe need to give up, but just wondering if there are any experts out there, or anyone who can tell me anything they know about the AMH levels; essentially do I need to just calm down and crack on?!

I'm starting acupuncture tomorrow which should hopefully help, but feeling like I may never be able to start my family.

Thank you

x

Hello, I'm currently pregnant after my second round of IVF. I had low AMH and not as many follicles. Please don't panic. It may be an 'indicator' as to how many eggs are produced, and it will help them decide on protocol and drugs if you go down the IVF route but that's about it. The results are good news. It means you can get pregnant naturally or otherwise. It happens both ways for people with lower numbers. Please be kind to yourself. Fertility treatment is bloody tough. I drove myself mad googling and stressing

Hey @RachaelRed - can I suggest you post in the conception and infertility boards? The posters there have SO much knowledge and I'm sure can help x
