Stretch and sweep, did it work for you?

I'm 40+4 today with my first baby and just had my first stretch & sweep about 3 hours ago. My cervix is posterior but I'm 1cm dilated and the midwife said my cervix is stretchy. I've been getting period pain type cramps on and off for the past hour and I'm very excited about any tiny sign that labour might be starting.
I'd love to know everyone's experiences with a sweep in their first pregnancies! Do you think it did anything and did you get any cramping afterwards?

Hey, I got 3 stretch and sweeps and they all did nothing. I too was getting period like cramps but still nothing. I ended up having to get my waters broken because baby was just not coming lol. It could work for you though:)

With my first baby I had two, and the second did the trick. With the second baby I had five (!). The fifth one worked!!! Period-like cramps sound like a good start though. I only got those the times the baby came!

Had one at 39+6, born 40+2.

Went into labour a day after the sweep. Who knows if it was the sweep or if I’d have gone into labour naturally though?

No, had 3 of them. But I know others they have worked for.
