Hi ladies, looking for advice, so going off LMP I am 8 + 3 but I know the date I ovulated I'm pretty sure ( I have irregular cycles) if I go by ovulation date I am 6+1... which date do I give midwife, I'm expecting my first midwife call today or tomorrow.... x

They go by date of LMP until you get your first svan

dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 11:10

Scan*

AnxiousAnnie86 · 10/11/2020 11:13

@dementedpixie thank you, that would put my 12 week scan at 10 weeks, would they need me to go back again at 12? X

Nah, it doesn't have to be at exactly 12 weeks. It's a dating scan so they'll date you by the measurements that they see at 10 weeks. Dated is dated.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 10/11/2020 11:18

@rorosemary gotcha!! Thank you! X

This.

I know the date I ovulated too and my LMP is the date I'm telling medical professionals until they tell me differently.

They go from LMP to get a rough date, then at 12 week scan (which others have said is 12-ish) that will give the exact dates they’ll use e.g. at scan they’ll say you’re 11+4 or 13+2 or whatever, and your due date is X. If they feel you’re there too early for them to make the checks they need to then they’ll have you back a couple of weeks later. The midwife won’t ask you in the conversation today what’s your due date, they’ll ask date of LMP and work it out themselves from there.

Congratulations!

Thanks so much everyone, has anyone had any midwife apps during lockdown? Is it all over the phone now? Xx

It’s different in different trusts @AnxiousAnnie86 I’ve had mine face to face but I’m on a group on here with ladies with similar due date from all around the country and there’s been a mixture of face to face and phone.

Sanch1 · 10/11/2020 18:08

@AnxiousAnnie86 if you have your scan at 10 weeks you may have to go back at closer to 12 weeks as there are certain measurements they need baby to be bigger. Just see it as a bonus getting to see the baby twice!

Moo678 · 10/11/2020 22:01

If you have your 12 week scan at 10 wks you will probably need to go back again - that happened to me with my 1st pregnancy. Especially if you’re getting a nuchal thickness done - there’s a strict time scale for that and I think 10 wks is too early.

I had my booking appointment yesterday - we did most of it over the phone then I went up to the surgery to get bloods and BP done.

ShowOfHands · 10/11/2020 22:06

I knew when I ovulated - always do, like clockwork and it bloody hurts - and they would only go by lmp so my 12 week scan was too early and I had to go back. With my second, I just gave them an incorrect lmp date so that it would all tally and I was measuring bang on.

38weekswithno2 · 10/11/2020 23:10

Just to check, you know they add 2 weeks onto when they think you conceived at the scan to keep the dating roughly the same as LMP date?

So if you ovulated 6 weeks ago then you'd be roughly 8 weeks.

All of my appointments bar 1 (16 weeks) has been face to face

Hey everyone! As this is a post on dates can i ask you all for help...
LMP was 5th october, cycles are normally 33 days. Pretty sure i ovulated around 23rd october.
Some apps say im 5 weeks and some say 4 weeks! Very confusing!

dementedpixie · 11/11/2020 09:15

Just over 5 weeks if LMP started 5th October

dementedpixie · 11/11/2020 09:18

Although nhs one says 4 weeks so who knows Confused

Luckylola12 · 11/11/2020 09:20

@dementedpixie thats why im so confused haha!

dementedpixie · 11/11/2020 09:21

The ones that take into account cycle length make you just over 4 weeks pregnant
