Blurred vision at 33+5

Today I had an episode of blurred vision that lasted 45 minutes and then disappeared as quickly as it started but then left me with a headache. I called maternity triage as I was obviously concerned re pre eclampsia.

They asked me when my next midwife appointment was (Monday) and just said to Maybe call and get an appointment sooner with your midwife but you don’t need to come to hospital. She said it is more likely to be low iron than pre eclampsia although I don’t know how she can know that.

She also said I would also have swelling, high blood pressure and protein in urine. When I pointed out there is no way for me to know of the latter 2 she just said that was why she was as telling me to get an appointment with my midwife ‘to put my mind at ease’ I don’t want my mind put at ease I want professional medical advice!

Am I right to feel a bit concerned at this apparent blaze attitude?? Looking online it is clear that blurred vision must be reported immediately.

I would push to get checked over properly by a midwife - you need your urine checked and blood pressure done

That’s what I was also thinking. It was almost left to me that, call for an appointment if I want or I can wait. I’m going to call midwife tomorrow morning first thing and see what she says.

I’d phone triage again tonight.

Phone again tonight and speak to someone else. and push to be seen, they should be cautious and taking it seriously

I had this, turned out fine but the MW told me to book an eye test to rule that out- which I did and was fine. I also weirdly saw lots of flashing lights in my last trimester and embraced again since giving birth..: weird

It’s always worth pushing to be seen and reassured though so I would call MW again tomo and ask to be seen sooner.
