Hello everyone! So i am over the moon today! Ive just found out im 4 weeks pregnant after 2 years of trying!!! Im still in shock, im super happy but now super scared as i dont want anything bad to happen! Can i ask about vitamins? I have the pregnacare ones which include recommended folic acid and vitamin D. I was just wondering if i should take more vitamin D seeming as its winter now?

How much vitamin d is in them?

400IU or 10mg
Which is the daily recommended but ive read you can have up to 2000IU a day!

I’d say to just continue on the Pregnacare. I have not heard anyone recommending that more vitamin d doses are needed during winter. There is always a risk that you can take too much of a vitamin. Probably best to keep taking Pregnacare, and when you have your appointment with your midwife ask the question about whether more vitamin d is needed during winter.

The maximum recommended is 100ug or 4000IU according to nhs.
I take 1000IU/25ug

You dont make vitamin D through the sun during winter months so it is maybe a good thing to take more supplements during this time

This is from nhs:

If you choose to take vitamin D supplements, 10 micrograms a day will be enough for most people.

Do not take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day as it could be harmful. This applies to adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women and the elderly, and children aged 11 to 17 years.
