4D Scans

Hi all,

I booked a scan weeks ago for a 4D scan. At the time I had not looked up much about them.

I’ve come across some reports that they can be harmful to the foetus.

Just wondering whether anyone recently had these 4D scans and would recommend them.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t live in the UK and where I am we get one as standard as part of the 20 week scan. They use it to check for any facial issues. On this basis is say it isn’t harmful.

I probably wouldn’t have paid extra for one. It was fascinating to see DS in that detail but I don’t think it particularly looks like him now. The Dr also told me that she thinks they all look pretty much the same! It’s very much a personal preference and it’s always exciting to see your baby so go for it.

I think one scan should be fine, but getting loads maybe would be what can cause harm?

I don’t know if they are harmful (probably not)... but even if they do cause harm it’s unlikely that people would know about it after having one.

I had a 3D scan which had a “sneak peek” of 4D included. at the end.

Personally I would not recommend 4D because I think they make babies look really creepy... 3D is much cuter. And I’m not aware that 4D adds anything in terms of checking the welfare of the baby.
