Hey, I'm a 36 Yr old step mum of 2 children and 2 weeks ago had the shock our life when we tested pregnant during a unitary tract infection pee test.
We have spoken about children and I've always been aware of my age but we are both so shocked and overwhelmed. This will be my first and always dreamed of feeling so different than I do. I've been to EPU today and am 8w+1 and can't stop crying...
Anyone else just so shocked they can't process or that it doesn't feel real??? My partner is acting like it isn't happening and says he doesn't feel excited either.... Help..!!!!

I'm 36 and DH 37 and we our first in September. When we took a PT and it came up positive we just looked at each other and then just carried on making dinner!
Neither of us really reacted and got excited until we had a scan at 7 weeks!
It's one of these moments .... 😳😳😳 and we were actively trying!
My best friend is in exactly the same position as you. 2 step children and fell Pregnant unexpectedly last year and had her DD in February. They are an amazing family but both her and her partner never really reacted to the pregnancy, due to shock more than anything else!
Congratulations and I'm sure the excitement will kick in soon! 🥰🥰

I am 36 and DH 34 and we are due our first in June. I am currently 8+3.

We weren't trying, but we weren't not trying (if that makes sense) and e were both shocked when I was late and tested positive.

My DH isn't overly excited at the moment, but he's so cautious and anxious that I think he is waiting for the 12 week scan so he can breathe and let himself get excited (Which I understand completely).

I think there's not a lot we can do at the moment except follow the advice and wait for scans/appointments and then once we have less of a chance of things going wrong, then we can allow ourselves to get excited

xx

Thanks @lockdownpregnancy and @samlh it's all just so new and strange and I feel like because he has been there and done it, it won't be special or that we just won't get over the shock.. Nice to know I'm not alone x
