Good morning all, I know everyone is most likely feeling in the same boat but I just wanted to see how everyone else is coping. Im 34 weeks and having a planned section ( my son was breech and I had a planned section and this one is the same). I am absolutely dreading the thought of going into hospital during lockdown, or just covid times in general. I know I don't exactly have much choice and that all precautions are well in place. I've even spoken to my friend who works at the hospital and shes assured me that the covid ward is as far away from maternity as possible but I cant help but be worried. Its almost stopping me being excited about the baby coming as I cant see past being in hospital. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Stay safe everyone

I ve just given birth yesterday and was on the maternity ward for a day and a half before I really went into active labour, I had a vaginal birth but I imagine precautions are the similar.

Everyone was strongly advised to have covid swabs with results within a few hours and they ask all visitors screening questions, masks have to be warn when walking between ward areas.
My main issue with the whole situation was being 2cm dilated and admitted due to high blood pressure but DH couldn't be with me in the evenings so I had a difficult time dealing with that, I imagine that won't be an issue since you re booked for a c section.

I had to go into hospital over the summer for an operation and to be honest, it never felt safer. They are taking so many precautions and there are far fewer people in there than normal. Try not to worry, you and your family will be more than fine. Lots of luck.

I give birth in the first lockdown and DS ended back up in A&E at 5 days but both times I felt incredibly safe. I was also very worried but the precautions were brilliant. Honestly try not to worry too much. The hospitals no what they are doing to keep you as safe as possible. Good luck with your C section and congratulations on the new baby xx

I’m almost 36weeks so it’s getting close. I’m hoping to go into natural labour and have a vaginal birth but might have to have an induction if get to 39weeks due to being diabetic. I don’t feel concerned about catching COVID my biggest fear is my partner not being allowed to be with me from the beginning of an induction and he will be able to stay for 4hrs after birth but then not allowed back. I have to stay for 24hrs min so bloods can be monitored and they want to check baby’s too. My partner bit concerned about starting paternity leave to be with us at birth but then few days being used with him sat at home alone. He’s a teacher so doesn’t get paid annual leave the way other workers would.
