First pregnancy, feeling anxious

Hello everyone! This is my first pregnancy, it was half planned. Honestly we thought we had fertility issues due to my partners varicocele and ended up getting pregnant on the second go. I’m 29, currently out of work (aside from the few hours in a bookshop I managed to scrape) and self employed as a musician. Well, you can imagine Covid19 has done a number on my current prospects...

My symptoms are mild (apart from minor cramping and my BOOBS, Christ) but I keep reaching early evening and feeling super anxious. Worried about how we’re going to do this, to afford it. I start the morning feeling excited and emotional and end the day worried and full of dread. We’re thinking about moving back to the north east so we have more support from our parents, but I can’t seem to find anywhere I want to live.

We haven’t told anyone yet as I’m only 5 weeks, so I guess I just wanted to reach out to some others on here in the hopes of salving some of my anxieties.
I feel totally in the dark about what I do next!
(In the interest of clarity I’ve registered at an antenatal unit, I’m just awaiting confirmation and an appointment, and I’ve just started taking Folic acid :) )

Help!

You will be fine and it's totally normal to feel how you feel. Remember you have 9 months to find somewhere to live, I moved the day before I gave birth and was all fine!

Thank you! I just keep telling myself that nothing is permanent, and that whatever stress comes along will pass eventually! I’m so eager to tell someone but haven’t had an appointment from the hospital confirmed yet and don’t want to until I’m sure everything looks okay. I still can’t believe I’m already 5 weeks. It’s such a strange feeling. I feel absolutely normal, but at the same time there’s this subtle shift underneath everything and I am different! Eek

Hi,

It is easier said than done but please try and not be anxious.

My mum always said to me that if I waited until we were ready, (financially), we would never do it. This baby has chosen you for a reason and one way or another it will all work out.

I do keep thinking this. My mum in law said the same back in the summer when we were both riding about kids with them, and she said it was no reason not to have them, because they had very little. Anxiety can always be logically undone but it’s a marathon in the attempt isn’t it?!
