Question about sweeps/ failed sweeps

Posted this on another board but didn't get much response. So trying here :)
Im 40 +2 and midwife attempted a sweep yesterday, she said cervix was about 2cm long and soft but the bit further in was still hard and quite closed, she could only get a fingertip in and could feel babys head but couldn't get in enough to actually do the sweep properly.
Has anyone had this and gone into labour soon? Or am I looking at going really overdue and induction?

Hi there

At 40 weeks I went for my first sweep. Not favourable at all.

At 41 weeks went for my next sweep again not favourable.

At 41 + 5 I was taking in to be induced and found I was not dilated at all. However, I ended up contracting on my own with only the pessary and my labour was super quick (5 hours)

I would say just take each day as it comes and baby will come when they r ready x

Sweeps did nothing for me sorry op. 2 with first DS he still needed inducing at 42+1
Second DS my waters had broken but nothing more happened, midwife performed a sweep and still nothing.... had to be induced

I had a sweep at 40 weeks ish last pregnancy. Dr told me I was already 1-2cm and would definitely start labour before my planned induction at 40+5. When I got to hospital for my induction, the midwife did the pessary and I explained what my consultant had said. She laughed and said she didn't know what he was feeling but it wasn't my cervix! Then sent birth partner home at around 11pm saying it would be ages before anything happened. I was in full labour within an hour and he arrived by 3am that morning. So I don't put much faith in their opinions of what my cervix is doing lol it go from 0-10cm within hours. All they can really do is go from their experience, but every woman and cervix and labour is different. My first I didn't feel a single contraction, my waters broke early on or I wouldn't have known I was in labour and pushing took forever cause suddenly I was in so. Much. Pain. My second I was in and out of hospital for weeks with stop start contractions, and a really bloody show that had me at 2-3cm dilated and he still took two more weeks to arrive! My point with that ramble was anything could happen, and good luck!!
