Hello all Smile

This is my first pregnancy and I’m wondering how everyone else felt during this time!

I’m 6 weeks +1. I had sore nipples at the start but that’s passed.

I’ve felt very odd in myself... thirsty, tired, feeling generally strange in myself and just wanting carbs!

How did you all feel?

I think I’m worrying as I’ve had a bit of spotting this week and going to the EPU tomorrow for a scan to make sure everything is okay & I think I’m analysing everything!

Any advice would be most welcome!! Xxxxx

I felt horrendous.
Tired, nauseous, boobs on fire, bloated, hungry but puky, annoyed at everything because of how sick i felt all day...🙄 and ofc over analysing each and every symptom daily.
Honestly not good memories at all.
Second trimester is pure joy though compared to 1st
😄

SunnySideUp2020 · 05/11/2020 19:20

Apart from the overall anxiety... i mean not being able to see what's happening inside is a little frustrating if you are a worrier.
But learning to trust your body to do its job helps... that would be my advice.
Not much you can do if anything so early on.
So yeah, trying to relax is my advice!

9 weeks tomorrow, feel horrendously sick and have terrible reflux. Not too long ago I was in this board worried I had lost symptoms and people said they will be back....they sure are! Vomiting, hot and want a good cry! But holding on to the fact it should pass in a few weeks.

Fingers crossed for your scan lovely xx

penguin423 · 05/11/2020 22:24

At 6+1 I had no symptoms at all. From just over 7 weeks the nausea took hold until 13/14 weeks without much break!

MyBabyBoyBlue · 05/11/2020 23:29

7+3 here are feel absolutely dreadful. Sore boobs, nipples on fire and 24/7 nausea and some very attractive dry heaving to accompany it. Very moody due to nausea. I had hyperemesis with my first so am just hoping it doesn't develop into that again.

Sour fizzy haribos and prawns are my only friends atm (very weirdly).

Sls668 · 05/11/2020 23:38

I’m 41 weeks tomorrow and I can honestly say the first trimester (well upto about 15 weeks) is BY FAR the worst part of pregnancy or has been for me.
Constant nausea, rattiness, never able to sleep through the night or stay awake through the day and the constant worry. It was just awful

user1471518119 · 06/11/2020 08:23

First trimester was horrible for me - cropping exhaustion, throwing up stomach acid, any smell made me vomit, no energy, neck acne and also super worried until I had my first scan. It did get better but not hugely - in third trimester now and still throw up every so often and exhausted. I never got that second trimester rush of energy or glow everyone talks about... Take it day by day and you'll get through it!

luxxlisbon · 06/11/2020 09:17

I’m 8+1 and so far feel absolutely fine! I had sore boobs a few weeks before I found out which turned out to be pregnancy related but other than that no real tiredness or sickness.
I’m usually quite a sicky person so I’m wondering if it’s waiting around the corner or if I’ve just got off lightly!

CoalCraft · 06/11/2020 09:56

I felt virtually normal, other than sore nipples. I went off precisely two foods (one of which I'm now fine with again) and was mildly fatigued but that was it. No nausea, no mood swings, no excessive weeing. If it hadn't been for the positive test I wouldn't have known I was pregnant, especially since I continued spotting lightly until about 11 weeks.

adogisforlife91 · 06/11/2020 10:35

7+1 here, and the 24/7 nausea has started. Eating seems to be the only thing that helps, but I only want hot/salty foods (think super noodles, chicken nuggets...its like being hungover!) Then it comes back straight away after i've eaten. I cant stomach a sodding ritz cracker which is what everyone seems to suggest! Going to be the size of a house at this rate....

CaptainSweatpants89 · 06/11/2020 10:43

Hi everyone!

New poster and first time mum - just hit the 12 week mark (hooray)

my phrase to anyone that has asked "how's baby" in the first trimester has been "kicking my ass".

Nausea so bad I feel like I've been on the tea cup ride at Alton towers for an hour (but not throwing up), this was (and still is) hitting me out of nowhere at multiple points during the day.

feel like my whole body has been put together wrong - aches like I've got a serious flu, cannot get comfy at night, shooting pains in both arms, and lower back ache. Oh and the tiredness.....omg i feel like a permanently exhausted pigeon, I just want to sleep all the time (like my 4 cats!!)

Not to mention the overly sensitive genital area and boobs that have grown at a serious rate with some super sensitive nipples. Oh and I really hate the air on my skin - I'm always bundled up, even at home.

psychologically it's all very surreal. I did 4 pregnancy tests just to make sure. Been very anxious about how I treat my body, trying to actively avoid stress - LOL (I'm moving house to another part of the country with my fiance and we're getting married as soon as lockdown is lifted and starting a new job in January) But ultimately we are super excited!! It's our first and only child so we've bought everything already (oops).

Baby so far has wanted nothing but fruit. Grapefruit, melon (lots of melon), apples, strawberries, blackberries you name it. Total aversion to coffee and tea which has been super helpful with not consuming caffeine.

Sorry for the long post - no one ever tells you how tiring the first trimester is and how brutal it really is. If you're struggling with it, you're not alone. Everyone keeps telling me wait till the 2nd trimester it will start to get better - so I'm holding everyone to that!

raspberryjamlove · 06/11/2020 12:18

@CaptainSweatpants89 that sounds really rough! With my first it did ease off around 11/12 weeks then I just had random 'off days'. I think it's meant to be once your placenta kicks in and hormones relax a little that you start feeling better. I'm hoping it's the same this time round x

sarahc336 · 06/11/2020 13:12

First trimester = absolutely bloody awful, I'm currently sat here at 38!weeks massive and uncomfortable but I'd do the third trimester again over the first one any day, it's the hardest bit in my opinion. Even worse second time round when you have an energetic toddler running around 😂

CaptainSweatpants89 · 06/11/2020 14:35

@raspberryjamlove It is really unpleasant. I'm not used to being "ill ill" - the extent to my flu every year is the sniffles so this is taking a lot of energy!

Glad to hear yours eased off with a few off days, I'm hoping that's the case over the next few weeks!

Orlandoflorida1 · 06/11/2020 15:03

Loss of appetite, tired and bloated. I’m 7 weeks today

MummyOfZog · 06/11/2020 15:07

I'm 9+2. I feel hideous and have done for weeks 😂 Nausea all day long (thankfully not many actual vomit sessions though), tired, not myself, foggy brain, bad sleep, so bloated and gassy in the evening, painful huge boobs. I basically look like crap!

hobbschelsea18 · 06/11/2020 15:09

Hi @dh8892 how did you get on today? X x

Ohdeariedear · 06/11/2020 15:13

My over-riding memory is crushing tiredness. By mid afternoon each day, I was dead on my feet, I’d have to go and sit in the loo at work for a few minutes at 3ish to try and wake myself up a bit to get through my last hour. I would get home from work, have something to eat then fall asleep for an hour or two. And still have no bother getting to sleep about 10pm. It went away after 12wks though and then I was great!

Trinpy · 06/11/2020 15:28

12 weeks here. Last 2 days have started to feel human again. Previous 6 weeks has been bloody miserable. Everything everyone else has already mentioned really (although I'm loving my new enormous boobs Grin). Every time I start thinking things are getting better the sickness and tiredness comes straight back again! I've promised myself I will no longer use the phrase 'I think I've really turned a corner this week and I feel much better' when people ask me how I'm feeling because I always seem to start throwing up again a few hours later Confused.

Thank you everyone so much for your wonderful responses!

Scan went absolutely fine today - baby is the size they should be and heart is beating away nicely!! Such a relief!! Roll on the 8 week scan in 2 weeks time!

Brilliant news @dh8892 what a relief 🤗 I’m so pleased you managed to find a heartbeat at 6+1 was this an internal ultrasound? I’ve been contemplating an early scan at 6+3 but they only offer abdominal so I’m not sure how much reassurance it will provide x x

dh8892 · 06/11/2020 18:25

@Vogue1992 yes internal as they said they wouldn’t be able to pick it up through abdominal and it was absolutely fine! Felt no different to a tampon (and that’s what they told me to expect)!

They did for-warn me at 6 + 2 they don’t always hear etc but nope I was lucky and there they were happy as Larry! Really really reassuring and I’m so glad I had the opportunity for it (though would have been nicer not to have been there because of spotting!) If you get the chance for a 6 week one, deff go for it! Xx

Thank you @dh8892 appreciate your response 🤗 really pleased everything went well for you x x

agradecida · 06/11/2020 21:46

Absolutely awful. I'm nearly 14 weeks so that's 2nd trimester now right?! Started around 6/7 weeks with extreme bloating, then the constant nausea, then throwing up acid/ bile, with extreme tiredness thrown in. Just like a never ending hangover and the feeling that I can't be bothered to do anything - being home all day everyday with an 18 month old is not fun (For either of us Sad ) .

If it goes the same as last time, it should start improving slowly around 16 weeks and I can't wait to feel good by about 24 weeks. Then just wait for the heartburn to kick in Grin I loved being pregnant from 24 weeks last time though. Lovely bump to stroke, feeling kicks, plenty of energy and no nausea.

I would have loved 3 kids, but honestly don't think I'll ever be doing this 1st trimester(+) shit again - it's just grim and goes on and on.
