Requesting gestational diabetes test?

Am I able to request a gestational diabetes test from my midwife? I've had blood sugar issues in the past, though I'm not diabetic. I've also had extreme thirst for past few weeks (I'm 27 weeks) which I believe can indicate GD?

Ask your midwife. My trust aren’t doing the gtt, which is meant to be the gold standard, because of Covid. I went and had it done at a private gp - so that’s an option. Generally nhs won’t do tests unless bloods or urine or growth scans suggest an issue. Mine was fine, but I feel better for knowing for sure as baby is measuring big.
