Had a scan yesterday at 5.5 due to history of recurrent miscarriage and all looked well there was the gestational sac and yolk sac inside. Then this morning tmi sorry I bled after a bowel movement only slightly very light pink and I checked and was defiantly from the front then since then I’ve had mild cramping and just a heavy feeling. The bleeding stopped almost a quick as it started. Could it be irritation from the bowel movement and yesterday’s internal scan? I know it’s just a case of wait and see but surely it was a good sign yday that the yolk sac was there? Anyone had similar? Thanks x

Hi @Mctm123,

I had similar spotting from 5-6 weeks. I rang the EPU and they weren't particularly reassuring. They said to call back if I started bleeding a lot or if I was in pain.

I did some research and found that your cervix can be easy to irritate during pregnancy due to the increased blood flow and this can cause spotting after bowel movements.

I had an early scan at 7 weeks and all was fine, the sonographer said it was very common to spot at around 6 weeks. I'm now waiting for my 12 week scan.

I hope you get on ok, it is a stressful time.

Thanks for your reply @Suite88

Unfortunately last night I started bleeding bright red but only when I wipe and it does seem to have calmed down now. I don’t have any cramps and I know it’s a bit pointless but I’ve retested yday and got a dye stealer on a FRER and now a 3+ on a digital clear blue. Only time will tell I suppose.

Good luck for your 12 week scan x
