Hello, just looking for some positive stories for anyone who has been through a similar experience.

After 2 early miscarriages I finally made it to my 12 week scan, after two early scan beforehand. Everything seemed well at the 12 week scan I was over the moon to get to this stage and have a wriggling baby and heartbeat. Then I got the news the NT measurement was 5.0mm, devastated isn’t the word after finally reaching the 12 week milestone!

The hospital was very efficient, straight after the scan I got seen by a consultant and decided to go for the CVS scan which I had today also. Now awaiting results on Friday and have been told there is a 70% chance the test will come back all clear, however can’t help but panic. I am only 29 and relatively healthy and fit so naively wasn’t expecting this today.

Looking for someone positive stories to keep me sane until Friday 🙏🏼

I hope you are ok, I know how worrying this can be. Just want to share my story to give you hope. Back in 2016, when I was pregnant with my little boy, they measured his NT to be 3.8mm at his 12 week scan. There were no other markers picked up on the scan, or any subsequent scans but along with my bloods, I was given a 1 in 5 chance of Down syndrome. I had to have the amino as my placenta was at the back. All the results came back normal and I gave birth to a healthy little boy. So please be assured that the high NT doesn’t always mean there is something wrong x x

By the way I was also 29 when this happened x x

Oddly enough I was almost 29 when this happened to me.

NT was 4.7mm - it was terrifying. I had CVS, a horrible wait but it all came back clear. They did extra scans for me.

I have a beautiful healthy son who's now nearly 2

Fingers crossed for you. It's a rotten time.

I went through a very similar experience in August (and I'm also 29!) The 12 week scan showed NT of 7.9mm. The risk of downs was 1 in 40. I opted for CVS. I had the first set of results within 48 hrs and it took 2 and a half weeks for the full set of results. Thankfully, they were all clear.

I then had two scans and echocardiograms - one at 16 weeks and one at 20 weeks. The consultant couldn't see anything wrong and the excess fluid was gone by 20 weeks . She did say there might be a small hole in the heart but she wasn't too worried. I've even been downgraded back to 'normal' pregnancy which is lovely!

Fingers crossed for a healthy pregnancy and baby from here on. I hope you have positive news too, OP - it really is an awful time.

So sorry ladies I didn’t receive any notifications for this post!

So glad you all had happy outcomes and reassuring that we are all the same/similar age and it turned out to be positive!

I got back my first set of results for trisomy 13,18 & 21 and they came back clear! I cried with relief! Should hopefully have the rest of the results next week and then it’s on to the cardiac scan.

We also found out we are expecting a little boy 💙

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply it really does help to know you understand and had a happy outcome! Xxx
