Hello all,

Just looking for some moral support and to see if anyone has had any experiences like me/ has any advice for me. Currently 6 wk pg and bricking it. A bit about myself:

1 mc before 8 weeks
2 mmc horrific at 11.5 weeks

Private investigations with Mr Raj Rai at St Mary’s. Underactive thyroid treated with 100mcg thyroxine, found PAI-I gene. Put on protocol for next pg, aspirin, heparin, 5mg folic acid.

3 mc - early bfp Test and started heparin etc, period arrived as if nothing happened

Waited months to get investigated by Dr Shehata at St Helier and his NHS team diagnosed elevated NK cells. Just as I got my protocol (Aspirin pre conception, prednisolone from ovulation) last Feb Covid hit! I was told to wait, since then prednisolone dose has been reduced from 25mg to 15mg. This is purely due to Covid and no one knows if the lower dose will be effective.

I ignored the advice as I already had all my drugs from the hospital and TTC from March. I took the prednisolone pre-emptively from ovulation once and found coming off it really hard on the hormones/ how I felt. Since then DH and I have tried for 7 months and I thought I’d start taking the steroids from BFP. I conceived in Sept but had zero symptoms so didn’t test till much later than normal. Now I’m roughly 6wk with next to no symptoms and started taking the drugs 6 days ago.

I know all I can do now is wait and see, but I just wondered if anyone has been through anything like this and feels overwhelmed by all the information. For example, why did Mr Rai think I need 5mg folic acid and heparin and Dr Shehata just prescribed aspirin?? St Mary’s say no aspirin before implantation but St Helier say take it while trying? And what about this random reduced Prednisolone dose now because of Covid?

Any advice, similar experience would be very welcome. Thank you!!

I cant help you with most of it but they've reduced prednisolone because it lowers your immune system and thus makes you more likely to get covid19 and get it badly. (Sorry if you knew this!)

Thank you, yes. It does make sense, just annoying not to know whether the reduced dose will actually help with the nk cell problem or not.

Bumping as would also love any info on this! Op how have you been doing? Hope your pregnancy progresses well?

Hi. Well I ended up taking the 25mg prednisolone and aspirin (and cyclogest) from finding out I was pregnant at about 5 weeks as I had a negative early test and then was convinced I wasn’t pregnant as I had no symptoms at all. 2 scans at week 7 and 8 showed a foetus with heartbeat, but about 2 weeks behind in size. We were so excited as hadn’t seen a heartbeat before and just thought maybe I ovulated later etc. Anyway, but week 10 there was absolutely nothing showing up, and due to the progesterone my body was not entertaining the idea of miscarriage. So I went in for a surgical removal, they have sent the pregnancy remains for testing, so we’ll see.
