Now maybe the real answer is a little obvious.... that you have gotta DTD/BD/make love/inseminate/shag, whatever you want to call it... but in TTC there are a lot of other tips and tricks out there outside of basic biology.

I'd love to hear from you lovely lot what you think did the trick. Grin

Absolutely nothing and we were 40 and 45. No vitamins, no tracking, no ovulation testing. We just had sex 2-3 times a month.Took less than a year of not really trying. The month we conceived we had sex twice 2 weeks apart, and the time it worked we were shitfaced on Christmas cocktails.

Took some Clomid. Had a scan a week or so later that told us there were two ripe follicles ready to blow. Had some sex.

The Clomid was the vital part. Sex every 2-3 days for months on end wasn't working.

😂 Basically you orgasm after him, the contractions are meant to suck up his swimmers and help them along

Just discontinued contraception and let nature take its course. First time it took 4 months, the second time 1 month.

CoalCraft · 04/11/2020 06:45

All I did was come off the pill and encourage DH into bed a little more. I had one period after stopping the pill, then I was pregnant. I was extremely lucky though.

Tracked cycles better using an app, started to temp so I knew I was ovulating and when which made it easier to predict ovulation day each month, used ovulation sticks, kept at it, took 7 months x

SpeccyLime · 04/11/2020 07:35

I used the flo app so I had a rough idea of when I might be ovulating, and tried to have sex at least once or twice in that window (as well as every few days throughout the rest of the month). Fell pregnant after 3 months of trying.

whatwouldidowithoutu · 04/11/2020 07:38

First time it just happened. We were younger and having sex a lot. Second time was different. Working and raising our son left us both knackered so it was more of a plan. Had sex pretty much every day leading up to ovulation. Really not as romantic and idyllic as you’d think. Became strategic and spoilt it tbh.

HPenthusiast · 06/11/2020 20:05

I downloaded PreMom app and tracked my ovulation and temp daily. I found the one step and clear blue tests really helpful. Also used the Sperm meets egg plan. Start DTD every other day from CD8 and then DTD 3 days in a row on your peak ovulation day. Then leave a day and do it one more time. This is our first cycle post MMC so may have been more fertile but it worked. This was knackering but trying to be as relaxed about it as possible is my advice ☺️

Tolleshunt · 06/11/2020 20:10

Fertility hypnotherapy. Had tried everything else and this was the last roll of the dice before IVF, which the fertility clinic dr had insisted was necessary.

RoseGoldEagle · 06/11/2020 21:30

Did OPKs and tracked temperature to time sex. Not very romantic but we both work long hours and are away from home a lot so just doing it as and when wasn’t getting us anywhere.

SpacePug · 06/11/2020 21:41

I used caster oil packs on my stomach before ovulation

jessstan1 · 07/11/2020 00:45

Very useful, SpacePug, not. You don't ovulate in your stomach. The ovaries are lower down in your abdomen.

kidsareok · 07/11/2020 09:36

A friend said to have sex on day 10 of my cycle! Apparently it's the magic day?! I did and I'm now 34 weeks pregnant! Worth a shot!

LizzieLouLouBelle · 07/11/2020 12:01

Having been trying for over 4 years, including one failed IVF cycle and a second that we had to abandon due to lockdown, and with my 40th birthday inching ever closer, I pretty much gave up on the idea of us being parents. Went away for a three weeks, drank pretty much every day, generally had a lovely relaxing time (I think we both relaxed properly for the first time in ages) and fell pregnant... 🤷🏼‍♀️ Never been so shocked!

Mylittlesandwich · 07/11/2020 12:29

Well first of all I lost 6.5 stone. Then I tracked my ovulation just with cheap strips. We DTD every other day all month pretty much. We had been trying on an off for years but I started taking it much more seriously with weight loss, healthier diet, tracking and no alcohol and within 3 months I was pregnant. I've now put much of the weight back on but I know I'll get back there. I don't want any more children I just want to be healthy for the one we have.

Diglett567 · 07/11/2020 12:43

I tracked when I was ovulating with the Clue app for a while (we were planning to start trying after honeymoon) and knew the app was pretty much bang on because my discharge changed exactly on the day it predicted me to be ovulating.
We had sex 3 days and then 1 day before predicted ovulation. I feel pregnant the first month of trying!
I know we were incredibly lucky that it happened for us so quickly. I think getting familiar with your body changes and cycle so you roughly know when you're ovulating is a good place to start. Then have sex in the few days leading up to it so there is sperm waiting for the egg drop!

wigglerose · 07/11/2020 12:58

Conceived first month, and I think it's down to a mix of things.
Gave up alcohol several months prior to TTC, although this was also to lose weight and improve my mood.
Tracked my period for about 2 years (mainly so I could know when the fucker was coming more than we were TTC). I knew when I was ovulating.
Hadn't used hormonal birth control for about 5 years so I didn't have to wait to come off it and for my cycle to settle down. Again, this was due to the effect the birth control had on my mood, not because we were TTC.
Had sex when I was ovulating.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 07/11/2020 13:07

Tracked cycle and used preseed! It was our first month trying and I was extremely lucky I know, but when we try again I will be using preseed and tracking again!
