Hi can anyone help or advise as I am not getting any advise from my doctor at all. I am 44 years old. I have not been able to fall pregnant for over 17 years... I do not know the reasons for this. Last week I took a pregnancy test as I was feeling sick tired and low in energy. The clear blue test was a positive test saying I was 1-2 weeks pregnant. I then took another 2 tests 2 days apart and they came back negative. I have no bleeding or stomach cramps and I am so confused as to what is going on

Have you been actively trying to conceive for all those years? A GP would've seen you before now about that?

About your test - different brands, different strengths of urine and different times of day can impact an early test. How many DPO are you to be testing?

No I havent been trying just thought I couldn't fall again and have 2 grown children so wasn't really bothered if I am honest. The tests were all clear blue tests. Sorry what is DPO

Dpo means days post ovulation. Another detail you may know is when your last period was

A few additional Qs-
Are you actively trying to conceive? If so, for how long?
How long have you not been using contraception?
What types of test are you using?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/11/2020 13:32

(I know you said clearblue but there are many types of clearblue test

Clearblue digital with weeks indicator have quite a high sensitivity - hcg of 10miu - and given your age as women get nearer to menopause their natural level of hcg can rise and cause you to get positive pregnancy tests

I havent been on any contraception for a number of years. Ok so my last period was over a month ago now.... I do believe I am going through the pre menopause for roughly over a year now but I have read this would not have anything to do with getting a positive pregnancy test result
