I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in April 2020. Was a surprise pregnancy and once we lost the pregnancy me and my partner were upset and thought maybe it is something we want. So we’ve been trying since June 2020. Last Saturday October 24th I took a test on the day of my missed period, positive. So I took a clearblue digital that same day “pregnant” then on Wednesday October 28th I had what I was told was implantation bleeding. Which was a once wipe blood and it was gone. I tested again on Thursday October 29th, clearblue how many weeks “pregnant 1-2” then on Saturday October 31st me and my partner had intercourse and I bleed lightly afterwards. Then this morning it was heavier. No cramps or pain. Just bright red blood. So I rang out of hours, they referred me to gyno and they wanted me there today for bloods and an examination. I had the bloods and examination. The nurse said my cervix was closed and there was clots, more than she’d like to see but wasn’t worried. She then came back into the room and told me my bloods showed nothing and they did a test on my urine sample and it was negative and she kind of made me feel like I lied about being pregnant in the first place. Didn’t give much info so I’m confused. I then came home and took my last digital how many weeks clear blue test and it came up “not pregnant” I am so confused and just baffled

Hi

Im really sorry that you are going through is, having 4 losses myself, i know its utter shit.

But if bloods, urine tests are showing negative and your bleeding, then its probable that it was a chemical pregnancy.

Ive had 2 myself so i know how confusing it is and you question whether you were actually pregnant. That test showed a positive , so therefore you were and hopes were made.

Be kind to yourself xx

@Aprilbaby21 really really confusing. At least with a miscarriage you’re told clear as day and that’s that. But with this the nurse just rolled on in and said “you’re not actually pregnant. This is your period” and I sat there dumbfounded. Especially because my cervix is closed she said before we knew the results of the tests. I just don’t know where to go from here. And I really don’t want to have pity party for myself, but I feel like my own body has tricked me

Well that nurse is a dick.

What she is saying isnt untrue, however, you WERE pregnant and and what you are experiencing is a very early miscarriage.

A chemical pregnancy is where you miscarry before your pregnancy is confirmed by a scan. So for a good week, you were pregnant and dont be tricked otherwise.

My 1st chemical, i didnt find out until i was 6 weeks when i went for a scan to be told nothing was on the scan. I went for blood and my HCG levels was less than 200. I didnt bleed until 5 days later.
My 2nd chemical, i did a test, it was positive, 3 days later, 'not pregnant'.

Its almost regardless of the physicality of the miscarriage.... for a week, you believed (and was) pregnant, and in that week, you were excited, probably thought about the practicalities of having a baby and loved that baby so therefore, you have lost xx
