I'm 38wks tomorrow

Baby has not engaged yet, although m/w says he/she is right on the brim now.

DD never engaged - was breech until 39wks when she turned & born at 39+4 (induced labour as waters broke & my BP was high & DD in distress) so I guess she'd only had 4 days to engage...

M/w doesn't seem too bothered that baby is not engaging yet, but I'm feeling a bit paranoid after last time

Anyone else never had a baby engage 1st time, but went on to have a normal delivery next time? I'm soooo hoping for a VBAC...

I have absolutely no idea at all. Big help I know

But I just saw this pop up and wanted to say hi and hope it goes really well and you get your VBAC

Betsy, I've had 6 and none of them ever got as low as engaging until they were well on their way out!!
Don't worry!

hey ! all systems go !! woo hooooo !!

right on the brim is fine

second babies often don;t engage until labour starts

you must start a thread the second you are in labour

Wierd - I was thinking exactly the same thing about 10 minutes ago as I feel a bit different this morning - am coming up 34 weeks, first baby breech and born by c/s so never engaged. No idea how you can tell if baby is engaged or not - presume m/w can tell you. However I also have a feeling this one has been head up so perhaps it's just moved position....

Babypod · 16/10/2007 09:18

Hellooo,
Have heard second time round they don't engage until the last min. Going to Midwife drop in clinic at 10 so will ask. I'm 38+1 with second and have been having braxtons this morn and some last night.
I think this one is head up too! I had a scan last time as DD was breech but this time haven't been checked at all.
Anyone else find MW don't check you much (or at all) with second?

claraq · 16/10/2007 09:26

Babypod - ask for a scan again if you are not sure; I don't have any confidence in m/w's or doctors or anyone being able to tell if the baby is head up or not.

Babypod · 16/10/2007 10:13

Will do. Back later

Hi all - I am new to Mums net.

iam in the same position. I was induced at 36 1/2 weeks with 1st and ended up with a section. I am preying for VBAC this time but don't know what ot look out for. I am 35 weeks tomorrow.

Maybe we should start a "hoping for VBAC" thread.

claraq · 16/10/2007 12:40

Flounder - welcome to the wierd and wonderful world of Mumsnet, hopefully you will find lots of useful info and support here.
If you have a look on the Childbirth threads you will find lots of posts about VBACS including one called Support for Imminent Vbacs (or something similar). There are also a few other VBAC threads. Might see you over there!

BetsyBoop · 16/10/2007 13:02

Hi Flounder

please come & join our VBAC thread
