Guys I am five weeks along with my first and my belly is so bloated I have to hide it. I can't believe that I already look (and feel) very much pregnant this early.

Has anyone had this experience and it turned out to be twins? 🙉 I am already only able to wear leggings as my jeans don't fit and I can't suck it in. 😆

It’s probably just bloat. At 5 weeks the baby is the size of a poppy seed. Bloating is really normal at the very start.
I’m a ftm mum and I didn’t start to show until around week 24.

Garman · 01/11/2020 11:58

It's standard hormonal bloating at that stage, regardless of one baby, twins or more! I started notice a bump around 25 weeks both times but wasn't noticeable to others until 28-32 weeks.

MrsMarrio · 01/11/2020 12:01

With my son I had a bump but wasn't noticeable at 15 weeks, it was Christmas Day and I couldn't fit into my jeans.

kirsty0028 · 01/11/2020 12:11

Oh it's completely just bloat but it is honestly huge 😆 it's literally making me look 5 months and it's making me wonder if double the babies means double the bloat 🤔

I have to hide it with hoodies already and hoping to keep pregnancy a secret from family until 12 weeks if I can !

I'm 4+5 and feeling like a hippo. The bloating is insane Shock I'm a size 12-14 wondering about buying some size 16 leggings to bridge the gap between my clothes and maternity clothes if that makes sense.

TwinMum89 · 01/11/2020 13:09

I was really bloated at first too. Found I was having twins at my 12 week scan. Didn’t start showing with a bump until around 18-20 weeks, though I know a lot of people do start showing earlier with twins. In hindsight, the signs for me were sickness until about 16/17 weeks and a very strong positive test on the day I expected my period to start.

PinkPlantCase · 01/11/2020 13:14

We stated taking photos of my side on from 4 weeks and by the 7th week I definitely had more of a belly and bigger boobs, may have just be bloat or it could be I’m that quite skinny so it’s more noticeable.

Haven’t had a scan yet so don’t know if it’s twins for us. Did have a strong positive at 12DPO but still things twins are quite probably unlikely.

I wonder?! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/multiple_births/3919814-i-wonder

I was like this at the beginning of my pregnancy & it never went down just got bigger even from 6 weeks pregnant turned out to be twins! Good luck either way & congratulations x

sarahc336 · 01/11/2020 13:26

It's just bloating at the min, it can be quite large at the start and hard to hide, with my first it turned into proper bump around 16/18 weeks for me and with my second I'd say around 10/12 weeks xx

elfran · 01/11/2020 13:55

I had a "bloat bump" until week 12-13, which then disappeared until my actual bump started to kick in around week 16, and was probably noticeable to others by week 20.

Amazed (and jealous) of the ladies who didn't show until week 24-25! I'm 24 weeks rn (ftm) and feel huge- it's definitely been noticeable for awhile. I do think a lot of it is down to your build; I'm only 5'1" and showed a lot sooner than my taller friends did.

sarahc336 · 01/11/2020 14:16

@elfran I'm 5 foot 1 and i defo showed sooner than a lot of my taller friends. I'm now 37 weeks with my second and just have a huge bump but it measures normal just looks so big as I am petite 😂😂 xx

kirsty0028 · 01/11/2020 14:57

Thanks for all the replies ladies and congrats on all of the pregnancies! 😍 so interesting to know other ladies have felt like this.

I am also 5 foot 1 so maybe thinking now there is no room for the bloat and it just looks bigger. I've attached a photo here to show how bloated it is. 😳 I have NEVER been this bloated before it's crazy! I have a little weight but my belly doesn't stick out like that. It feels like someone blew up a balloon in there 😆

I'm 5ft8 and had tiny bumps because I've a lot of abdominal space, it definitely plays a part.

ivfbeenbusy · 01/11/2020 15:16

8 weeks.......with twins 🤣

kirsty0028 · 01/11/2020 15:42

Aw congrats to you both!

Omg twins ! Did you notice any signs of extra bloat like this 🥰😛

ivfbeenbusy · 01/11/2020 16:17

@kirsty0028

Thanks! I had an early scan anyway to confirm but even if i hadn't it was kind of obvious it wasn't one baby - it didn't look or feel like bloating and was definitely "bump" like - I was in maternity clothes by 8 weeks

Sexnotgender · 01/11/2020 16:19

Baby no.3 and I stopped being able to wear my high waist skinny jeans at week 15. I’m now 17 weeks and feel enormous!

I’ve only put on 4lbs but I’ve totally changed shape.

kirsty0028 · 01/11/2020 16:32

Isn't it crazy how peoples bodies can be so different! Blows my mind! Things are bad if I'm feeling big at 5 weeks! 🤦🏼‍♀️ will be interesting to know how many is there none the less 😆

At my booking appointment at 8 weeks my midwife had to double check my dates as she thought I was at least 6 months. Felt and looked absolutely huge. It was all bloat, definitely only one baby in there (paid for an early scan as OH convinced me it was twins 😂) now I’m almost 28 weeks and much bigger than I was then, I swear I’m going to pop

TheOrigRights · 01/11/2020 17:17

That's not bump, it's bloat. Your uterus is still very much in your pelvis. It'll settle.

That is so reassuring to hear from someone else who had a similar experience, literally sounds exactly the same as me, all bloat but still crazy! Congrats to ye both ❤️🥰

Oh I'm under no impression what so ever that it's a bump 😆 I'm just wondering if it's normally to be this crazily bloated on a single pregnancy and it just got me thinking about Twinnies.

I actually don't think you look that bloated 😂 I had days early on in this pregnancy, around 7 weeks where I looked so much bigger than that 😂 thinknit comes down to how you respond to progesterone and how much it slows your digestion down rather than how many babies are in there xx
