Hey

Found out I was pregnant last weekend so I'm only 4-5 weeks. I have hypothyroidism which I know can cause complications and MC my anxiety has got bad that I'm not sleeping I'm worried that somethings going to go wrong and the 12 week scan is so far away.

I don't know how to stop myself worrying I have had 2 children before but never felt like this.

I've had really bad sickness which I've read is a sign of a strong pregnancy but if that was to stop I think my anxiety would go into overload.

Does anyone recommend an early scan?

Any advice would be great x

Hi. I am currently 11 weeks pregnant following a miscarriage earlier this year. When I first got a positive I was fairly calm thinking what will be will be but within a week or so my anxiety levels were creeping up and by 8 weeks I was a mess. I was umming and ahhing over getting a private scan but I did go. For me I just needed to know so I could either start dealing with bad news or start to relax about things. Luckily I got good news. I'm still a little anxious because obviously it can still go wrong but it's at a managable level now rather than all consuming and affecting everything I do.
I have another child as well and I was so chilled with that pregnancy, wish I could be like that again lol.

@ProfInkly sorry to hear you suffered a miscarriage 😢. Happy that you are pregnant again tho I really hope it all works out for you. I won't talk to a midwife till I'm 9 weeks so over a month away just hate not knowing I keep wondering if I'm even pregnant at all I know it sounds weird. I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed 😢 xx

Hi OP,

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I'm sorry you're feeling like this. I'm 13+3 after a miscarriage last year and from the day I got my BFP my anxiety has been through the roof, I've had days where I sobbed in bed all day because I was so sure something was wrong and the 12 week scan seemed so far away.

When the symptoms stopped (they do come and go in the first trimester) I would be so scared. I ended up having a private scan at 10 weeks when my symptoms stopped and everything was fine but it definitely reassure me. I don't really have any advice but wanted to let you know that you're not alone with how you're feeling and your feelings are completely valid.Flowers

When you have your booking appointment it's worth letting the midwife know how you're feeling, they've put a lot of extra mental health support in place for me.

I hope you feel better soon x

Thank you for your reassurance. So sorry to hear you had a miscarriage 😢. I have lots of symptoms mainly sickness. I didn't feel like this with my other 2 so don't know what to do.

Yes I will talk to them when I have my appointment fingers crossed it will all work out okay xx

Hi. I have hypothyroidism and am expecting DC4. I have never had a miscarriage (I know I am extremely lucky) so it is possible to have a completely normal pregnancy with hypothyroidism. I have been under consultant led care and have regularly blood tests to check my levels.
Good luck xx

@Grumpy19 yes I had a normal pregnancy and birth with my second I hadn't been diagnosed with it with my first. Just seen lots of stuff about it it's very worrying I take my meds and have regular blood tests so fingers crossed x
