Do private scan places stay open in lockdown?

Hi all, I've got a scan and harmony test booked 3 weeks today at a private scanning place. Does anyone know if it's likely to still go ahead if we go back in to lockdown? It's all over the news today that only education and essential retail will stay open. Did they stay open during the last lockdown in the spring/summer? Thank you Smile

I had a couple of private scans during the last lockdown at window to the womb. They stopped doing 4D and other 'souvenir' type scans but continued with reassurance and welfare checks.

Thanks so much for your reply! I think my scan would fall under that category wouldn't it? Do the NHS 12 and 20 week scans carry on as normal?

We had two private reassurance scans during the last lockdown, at Ultrasound Direct.

Thank you, that's actually the company I am using Smile

We were thinking about getting the gender scan in 3 weeks at window to the womb, after having such a lovely experience at a 8 week scan. Not sure if that would be considered a souvenir scan though.

Ultrasound direct still did them in our area but they changed how many guests they allowed and cancelled 4d scans for awhile.

I got a reassurance scan I think with baby bond during last lockdown. My husband wasn’t allowed to come though.

Early in lockdown, most near me fully closed. Then they allowed without partners, then with partners. I think they will keep going if another lockdown - they have all the safety stuff in place

I had a harmony test which included a scan during lockdown. No partner allowed and I had to wait outside and they called me when it was time to go in.
I do remember though that when I was looking to book it there weren't the same options as there 'normally' would be - as in some of the usual places were closed.

I had the harmony test with ultrasound direct during full lockdown.

@Sansa87 WTTW cancelled their official gender scans, but you could find out the gender at the scans they continued to offer. So basically they cancelled them in name only. This is how we found out the sex of our baby and at the height of the first lockdown.

@SharyBobbins NHS scans will continue as normal.

Thanks so much everyone, I'm really anxious about this pregnancy so I'm glad to hear (hopefully) I'll still be able to get some reassurance from a private scan xx

I've got a well-being and gender scan with Window to the Womb on 14th Nov. I contacted them at the weekend and they are still operating throughout lockdown and partner still allowed Smile
