I'm 35 weeks pregnant and for the past few weeks have been my asthma has come back and have been getting chest pains and like aching feelings/tightness. I am also starting to feel like I can't breathe a lot I'm really scared and paranoid because there was a girl named Nicole Thea from YouTube who lived in London and she was getting the exact same symptoms I am having and sadly actually ended up dying at 8 months pregnant from a heart attack r.I.p to her and her baby boy 💔🙏 she was heathy, a dancer with no health conditions so I'm getting really scared and feel as though something like this is going to happen to me. She would allways tell her midwife she would feel out of breath and stuff and I told mine aswell but she just says that happens and to start using my peak flow meter. I'm really scared 😭😭 I'm actually home alone for tonight and have been crying for personal reasons but my chest is hurting and aching I don't know whether I should call someone or just wait until it goes away thinking about what happened Nicole is really making me paranoid and scared

Ring 111 and discuss it with them. It does get harder to breath in late pregnancy but if you are worried then speak to some one.

Call 111 for advice or your midwife.

It is very very normal to feel that tightness and struggle to breathe in late pregnancy. I did. My asthma is really mild and I don’t always remember to use my preventative inhalers but I had to be really good about using them when pregnant and sometimes needed the reliever too.

It is very sad what happened to the lady and her baby. However it makes it no more likely to happen to you.

It also sounds like you are suffering from some anxiety which may be exacerbating the tightness/ asthma symptoms.

Nobody on here is able to diagnose you so if you are really worried you should contact 111 or go to A&E if you really think it’s serious. However if you feel able, maybe try to do some relaxation (try breathing in for 3 out for 6), maybe find a guided relaxation on YouTube or similar? Or try the 5 things method - look around you and find 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 you can smell and 1 you can taste - focus on that and try to let that anchor you in the present moment and not thoughts of ‘what if’.

If you’re still concerned afterwards then contact a healthcare professional.
