Infections during pregnancy

I now have bacterial vaginosis for the second time whilst pregnant and I am only 10 weeks! I didn't experience this with my first pregnancy at all. The first time I have BV with this pregnancy was at 6 weeks and the symptoms went away after 7 days of antibiotics, they showed up again at 10 weeks and I am now back on a 7 day course of antibiotics.

I also have bad back pain and tummy cramps, midwife said unless there is blood it sounds okay and to get tested for UTI. Only issue is, when I spoke to the doctors at 1pm today (being Friday), they would not test me for a UTI and have said that I have to wait until Monday to give a urine sample in. I'm feeling quite annoyed since I am in awful pain with it and now have to wait the weekend.

I am reassured that my midwife thinks it sounds like UTI (in addition to BV) with having no bleeding but I'm still in pain Sad.

Has anybody else experiences this?
Has anybody else experiences reoccurring bacterial vaginosis and been okay?

Our samples are collected for the lab at 1pm so there would be little point in getting you to drop a sample in if it needed sending off. Mind you they could have dipped it to see if it was nitrate positive or anything else. Was it the receptionist you spoke to or a nurse/GP?

If it was a receptionist then it may be worth phoning again and asking the duty dr to call you back before they close. Don’t wait the weekend in pain, phone the extended hours/out of hours service if need be.

Could you go to an out of hours doctor? You have to be careful with UTIs as they can spread to your kidneys if left untreated. I had a kidney infection when pregnant and I was really really poorly.
Meanwhile you can take paracetamol for the pain and drink loads of water to help flush anything through. Cranberry juice can also help.
If you haven't got a UTI I think you need some investigation for the pain and recurrent BV. It's possible the first set of antibiotics didn't fully cure it.
