I recently announced my pregnancy to people but two people have commented on my scan picture, asking if anyone seem worried has it doesn’t look right. When I went for my scan no one mentioned anything to me and I came away happy that everything looked good. Now these comments have been made I’m starting to worry that something might be wrong, has my scan picture does look different compared to some others I’ve seen. I know I’m probably just been silly and worrying over nothing. I just wondered what other people thought about my scan does it look normal or not?? Tia x

It looks completely normal, what have people said is wrong with it? If the medical professional doing the scan wasn't concerned then I would go with that, not others commenting randomly.

EugenesAxe · 29/10/2020 23:48

I agree - the professionals would have said something if there was an issue.

Perhaps it's the way the limbs are positioned that made people say something? I see two hands and maybe a bit of umbilicus that's showed up in the image.

imjustbxx · 29/10/2020 23:58

Tell them to shut up your sharing something special and them commenting saying things like that it's horrible it looks fine just like a normal scan picture like others have said if there were anything wrong any concerns they would have said that straight away at the hospital. They check everything when they are doing the scan all the limbs and size of the baby everything if there were any abnormalities you'd of been told them people commenting don't listen to them

Turtleturtle81 · 30/10/2020 07:31

Were the people that made those comments medical professionals that are trained to interpret sonograms?
If not, tell them to fuck off.

peachypetite · 30/10/2020 07:33

Ignore the silly fuckers!

Ellovera2 · 30/10/2020 07:35

Please do not worry. What is the matter with people?!
I have only showed parents my scan and they were very taken aback - scans are much clearer and more detailed than they used to be and they couldn't believe how alien - like the baby looks! Could this be what they mean?
Who were they?

Daya079 · 30/10/2020 07:55

How do you deal with all kinds of worries during pregnancy

Whilstwewait · 30/10/2020 07:57

God people are idiots. Can't believe people would actually say that. Your scan pic looks lovely. Baby looks very active and mid movement in the pic. Ignore them

TildaTurnip · 30/10/2020 08:01

What a weird thing for them to both say! Firstly, because it looks like a usual scan picture (congratulations!) and secondly because they must know if something did look unusual, you’d have been told.

SpeccyLime · 30/10/2020 09:43

Looks totally normal to me and anyway, there’s no way randoms on social media would spot something the sonographer missed.

They sound like really insensitive and unhelpful comments OP - I would restrict future pictures so those people can’t see them.

Foreverbaffled · 30/10/2020 09:54

It’s a great picture! Much clearer than a lot of 12 week scans. People are unbelievable. Enjoy your pregnancy :)

Vicalam · 30/10/2020 10:08

If the sonographer thought there was anything of concern they would have told you, they have to. It's a great pic, really clear. I get that you're worried, I've gone from being really easy going to worrying about everything. Easier said than done but try not to worry. Theres always private scans if you want extra piece of mind and you could speak to your midwife.

ImaSababa · 30/10/2020 10:09

It looks fine to me! A lovely scan pic.

midgebabe · 30/10/2020 10:11

How lovely! ( the picture not your acquaintances)

Longroadbutwegothere · 30/10/2020 11:05

Thankyou to everyone that’s commented, it’s made me feel a lot better this morning knowing that everyone on here thinks everything looks ok. Baby seemed very active at the scan and I just thought it was a really clear picture compared to some others I’ve seen.
I know I shouldn’t listen to others, I just started to worry with two different people mentioning it.
One comment was made by my auntie to my mum when she showed her the pic (starting to think it may have just been a jealousy comment) and the other a work colleague who’s also pregnant.
Thankyou for taking the time to reply and making me realise I’m just been silly worrying about silly comments made. I’ve just been so anxious since been pregnant, hope you all have a lovey weekend xxx

People will find absolutely everything they can to comment on during pregnancy, often not in a particularly sensitive way, and usually with absolutely no medical background whatsoever. Get used to saying, "everything is fine, I'm happy with the judgement of the medical professionals". Congratulations!

PolarBearStrength · 30/10/2020 11:28

I’m wondering if maybe they thought the black area of space between baby’s back and the edge of your womb was the nuchal translucency. It’s not FYI. Lovely clear scan picture!

Oneandabean · 30/10/2020 13:20

It looks fine, it’s important to remember this is just a tiny part of the scan and the sonographer will have done a detailed look, so even if your picture looks a bit different from someone else’s it’s just going to be how the baby was at that moment

imjustbxx · 30/10/2020 15:02

@Longroadbutwegothere also when I had my very first scan I was feeling exactly how you are because in the picture it looked like the baby had a HUGE LONG chin 😂 like it literally looked like the length of the arms on the scan I was thinking oh my god what the hell is that my babys chin ??!!! are they going to be born like that I was so embarrassed to show people my scan picture and was really upset about it and worried it looked really weird. I don't know what it was but by the time I had my second scan she looked completely different she looked like a normal baby lol and whatever that thing was that looked like a huge chin was gone So don't worry yours looks absolutely fine anyway the further along you get the more clear the pictures are and you can really see the outline and shape of baby and the features

imjustbxx · 30/10/2020 15:08

Just tried to upload pictures of all my scans to show you how they change but it wouldn't let me as I am new 🥴🤷‍♀️
