Two vessel cord / sua - any experiences?

Hi,
It was picked up at a scan early on that baby's umbilical cord just has 1 artery instead of the standard 2 (single umbilical artery). They just said it's likely nothing but can be linked to renal issues but too early to tell any more. At my 16w appt midwife was thrown when I told her and said she'd never come across someone with it, not super helpful or reassuring!
I've got my 20w scan tomorrow and I'm getting really nervous and dreading it now.
Can anyone share any recent experience of having this and if further investigations/scans were done or any other issues were found?
Thanks in advance

Hello I hope everything went well with your baby I’m looking for some advice I also have been told umbilical cord has 1 artery instead of 2 I just wondered how the rest of your pregnancy went and hope your baby was born without any complications I’m 21 weeks and was told I’ll have another scan at 31 just to check everything, thanks in advance

I was told this on my 20 week scan but it turned out to be wrong. The midwife who delivered my baby showed me the cord.

Hi @Bethrue91 I've not yet had my baby, I'm 38w tomorrow so soon! All seems to be going well, at 20w scan they were happy there were no other markers of concern (but confirmed 2 vessel cord) so just said my midwife should monitor my bumps growth (as they do anyway from 28w). At 28w she sent me for a growth scan as bump was measuring small but scan showed she was in fact 90th percentile, so quite the opposite! Since then they've not had any concerns and bump is growing well. Been told we have to see a paediatrician once babys born just for a check over, which is reassuring for me just to put my mind at ease about it all, but hopefully all will be good. I'll update the thread once babys here and how things went. Hopefully you'll find the same as me and it's just one of those things x

Thanks for the quick reply. I have seen a few other comments about sua and most of the babies are absolutely fine which is reassuring sometimes the mothers are induced and babies have extra checks after they’re born can only see that as a positive though.
I suffered with severe morning sickness and after it become unmanageable I was out on anti sickness medication, I was always sceptical about taking medication whilst pregnant and am wondering if there’s a possibility between that and sua, have you been on any sort of medication if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks Beth.
