Diarrhoea every evening

Every evening from about 6 pm for about the past 2-3 weeks I’ve had a bad stomach of varying degrees, cramping & diarrhoea. Sometimes the cramping pain is severe but not a lot happens, sometimes vice versa & sometimes all of it! Confused it’s really getting me down.

Lots of info says stomach upsets more common in pg but does anyone else have this sort of regularity or pattern?? I’m debating whether to go to GP but not sure what they can do about it really ...

It’s so crap isn’t it! I have had similar issues but I’m still quite early(11 weeks) so I’m hoping it will pass. I hadn’t this issue last pregnancy so I’m not too sure myself what to do about it. Thankfully I’m not bad enough to worry about dehydration but it’s really uncomfortable and unpleasant. I’m trying to play around with my food in the afternoon to see will that help, I honestly don’t know what’s causing it really though since I’m not eating high fibre foods in abundance and I find if I don’t eat really regularly I feel really sick then!!! I would ask your gp about it though just in case they can offer advice.

How far along are you? Are you taking any vitamins or iron tablets?

UncleBunclesHouse · 26/10/2020 04:40

@fuckfuckingcovid19 I’m 16 weeks and take the pregnacare tablets

Highly likely to be the pregnacare. Would stop taking for a bit and just take vitamin D.

UncleBunclesHouse · 26/10/2020 08:56

@peachypetite - thanks I’ll try that - although I need to continue folic acid?

@Yummymummy2020 same, if I don’t eat at least every 2-3 hours I feel so sick, but then every evening it all comes back to bite me! Why do they have to make pregnancy so rubbish

You don't need folic acid after 12 weeks, just Vitamin D or you can get supermarket own brand pregnancy tablets.

I am 12+5 and have a regular upset stomach at the moment so I might do the same and stop Pregnacare

mintich · 26/10/2020 09:24

I swing between constipation and diarrhoea...my stomach hasn't been normal since I got pregnant!

peachypetite · 26/10/2020 10:01

@UncleBunclesHouse no you don’t just vitamin d.

NICE recommends women should take 400 micrograms of folic acid each day, from before pregnancy until the end of the first trimester (first 12 weeks), and 10 micrograms of vitamin D daily throughout pregnancy and while breastfeeding. No other supplements are recommended for routine use.

I was getting upset tummy every day for weeks and it's a bit better now. I think it could be down to drinking Kefir yogurt drinks and eating date bars (like nakd). Could just be a coincidence of course.

I’ve just started getting this every morning (since 6+3) ... my GP is convinced it’s a tummy bug but I feel perfectly healthy otherwise. (I’ve never had a tummy bug- always went straight for the flesh eating parasites Confused. But I assume you’d feel generally unwell with a tummy bug?!)
