First trimester gas and bloating!

Hi. I’m currently 7+3 and experiencing awful, constant bloating and burping. I don’t usually burp much at all (I seem to have a weird digestive system where my burps go onwards and gurgle in my throat instead of outwards!), and I’m really struggling with a constant need to burp. It feels like air is trapped in my throat, and it makes me feel like I’m retching sometimes trying to get it out. It’s starting to get really uncomfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions of home remedies, or anyone who also suffered this have any advice? I hope it doesn’t last throughout my pregnancy!

Edit: I meant inwards, not onwards!

I had a terrible bloaty feeling in my first trimester. Ginger tea helped a little.

Rennies or similar medication for heartburn and indigestion help. Also sparkling water or other fizzy drinks are good for getting a proper burp out, which relieves the feeling for a bit!

Definitely a common first tri symptom! The hormones play havoc with digestion. Home remedy - lie on your back and cycle your legs then lie on your side Blush

I had horrible gas and wind in first trimester and my stomach swelled up like a balloon. In the end the only thing that worked was wind-eze. Just needed one tablet (package says can have 3 per day) and that relieved things enough to be bearable for over a week

If looking for natural cures peppermint tea or anything with ginger is supposed to help. Plus smaller meals more often. Tbh though none of that really did the trick for me. Just check the packaging of anything you take and if not sure you can check on their website or ask GP

Unfortunately my GP said I shouldn’t take anything unless the symptoms were ‘extreme’ so I left it until I was gagging due to being so swollen and unable to sleep. Wish I had just take a tablet before it got to that stage! They are totally safe - stays in digestive system and doesn’t get absorbed into your blood
