7 weeks tomorrow and bleeding

Hey Everyone,

I have been wiping blood for a couple of days. It has been very pale pink until early hours this morning and now it's like i'm getting a period. Phoned the EPU and they have invited me in for a scan at 2:30pm as I am also having quite strong pains in my right side.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it's not what it sounds like.

Has anybody else experienced this and everything turned out okay?

I had bleeding at 12 weeks and all was fine.
I hope you get good news. X

GanderousGoose · 22/10/2020 23:09

How did you get on @MumToBeMaz

MumToBeMaz · 22/10/2020 23:20

Thanks for your response and checking in girls.
I got an internal exam and everything is in the right place. The midwife said it looks like a normal, healthy early pregnancy.

Since I've been home the bleeding is a lot heavier and I've started passing very small clots. So I'm still really nervous about it all.

Trying to stay positive but every time I go for a pee I get scared to look down.

Try to stay positive OP.
Thinking of you Smile

swiftt · 23/10/2020 06:34

Sending positive thoughts! Did they find a heartbeat? X

calimommy · 23/10/2020 06:45

Good luck OP! Xxx
Bleeding can be so 50:50, it can mean nothing and the pregnancy progresses well in spite of the blood, or it can have a poor ending. I hope for the former for you. 🤞

preggersteach · 23/10/2020 09:49

Just wondering how youre doing op, bleeding can be so worrying but not necessarily out of the ordinary xx

MumToBeMaz · 23/10/2020 10:27

You are all so lovely checking in. Really appreciate it, thank you.

I'm doing ok. Trying to keep positive but still very nervous when I comes to going for a pee. Still bleeding but not seen a clot in a little while which is good.

@swiftt they couldn't find a heartbeat. But they think that im not quite 7 weeks. That's the date from my last period. They think I'm roughly 5 weeks. I'm going back in for another scan in 9 days to check and see if it's growing.

The midwifes were quite confident that I'm not miscarrying though. They said they would be able to see bits of blood or tissue in the scan and that it would be lower down if I was having a miscarriage. They said it looks like a normal healthy, early pregnancy though.

@MumToBeMaz keeping my fingers crossed for you lovely, hopefully they’re right and you’re just earlier than you thought. Would your dates make sense if you were to be 5 weeks?

MumToBeMaz · 23/10/2020 13:03

Yeah, my last period was the 4th Sept, but I ovulated on the 22nd. So that would make me 4/5 weeks.

It's quite confusing. I'm not sure why they even go by the date of your last period to be honest.

I have a face to face booking appointment with my midwife on the 5th Nov so hopefully she can explain things a little better.

I feel like we are just thrown in the deep end for the first trimester and I'm not really sure what I'm doing. Hahaha.

Congrats on your pregnancy and I hope everything goes smoothly. On a side note, you have to squint to read it but might be worth cropping your personal information off the scan photo above Smile

MumToBeMaz · 23/10/2020 17:06

Thank you @KimMarie34 and thank you for pointing that out. I genuinely didn't even think people would be interested, hahah.

I can't figure out how to crop it or delete it, do you know how to do that?

Timetotry123 · 23/10/2020 17:16

Hope all goes well I’m sure you will be just fine. If your period was the 4th does that not make you 7 weeks? I’m confused have I used the wrong calculator my period was the 30th sept and it says I’m 5 weeks 🤔

MumToBeMaz · 23/10/2020 17:28

@Timetotry123 Yes, I'm a little confused too, to be honest.

So, from what I understand, when you find out you are pregnant you go from the date of your last period. In my case, it is the 4th of September, which would make me 7 weeks today. Normally you wouldn't have a scan until you're 12 weeks or so and that is when they check the sizes and can date everything properly.

But when I had the scan yesterday the midwife said that they think i'm under 6 weeks because of the size of things just now.

Looking at my tracker I did ovulate on the 22nd of Sept so that kind of fits in with what the midwife is seeing. So they're measuring based on the size of the yolk sac and not necessarily how many weeks it has been since my last period.

I'm hoping that when I have my face to face appointment they can explain things in a bit more detail.

Mumsnet work quickly! I reported that image and left a wee message for them and they have already removed it for me.

That’s so confusing, yeah hopefully they explain it all a bit more :) x

KimMarie34 · 23/10/2020 21:23

Glad you managed to get it removed, because I didn't have a clue howGrin

swiftt · 24/10/2020 21:20

@MumToBeMaz how are you getting on?

MumToBeMaz · 25/10/2020 08:59

Hey @swiftt

Still bleeding consistently. Not enough to fill a pad but I'm using pantyliners and changing every time I pee.
I am still getting little clots at about 3-5mm long.

The pain is gone though. Just trying to stay positive and I'm counting down the days until the 2nd where I get a follow up scan.

My boobs are getting more tender by the day so I'm hoping that's a positive sign.

It's just so nerve wracking not knowing what's going on in there.

OP posts:
swiftt · 25/10/2020 09:55

@MumToBeMaz fingers crossed for the 2nd! It’s so horrible not knowing what’s going on inside our bodies. Keep us updated x

MumToBeMaz · 25/10/2020 09:57

I know. It's not like there's anything we can do either. Just need to be patient and wait for a follow up.

Trying to distract my mind with some work, even though I'm off until Tuesday... Hahah

@MumToBeMaz hi was everything okay? Just read and didn't want to go off without asking

MumToBeMaz · 11/11/2020 16:28

Hey @GeeHO98, sorry for not updating the post. It completely slipped my mind.

Unfortunately it was confirmed a miscarriage. Still going through it just now. They don't really know what happened but that it stopped growing.

Just focusing on getting better and will keep trying.
