I'm 40+1. I went to the midwife yesterday for a sweep and she was a bit shocked how low babies head was and she was like you are definitely around 4cm already.. I have been uncomfortable for about 4 weeks but no clear signs anything was happening. She was like it's going to happen soon.... nothing. I went for a walk, ate spicy food, been bouncing on my ball... nothing. I guess it just got my Hope's up. I'm worried this baby is going to be big so I was getting excited yesterday but no. I've had terrible hip pain this pregnancy so maybe I haven't been moving around as much as I should of. Going for another walk with OH now. Any tips? Did this happen to anyone else? If you say yes and nothing happened for another 10 days I will cry 😂

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Some people do walk around at 3/4/5cm for days, or even weeks. However, see it as a positive! Once your contractions start and are regular you know you’ll be admitted to labour ward/birth centre, and your partner will be allowed to stay because you’ll definitely be in established labour by their measurements! And hopefully it will be quite quick too!

I was 2-3cm on my due date sweep and she was able to stretch to 4cm, waters bulging, labour started 2am at 40+5 and DD was born at 7.17am. My friend was shocked that I'd got to that with no pains when she had over a day of contractions just to get to 2cm. Fingers crossed you go soon.

😭😭😭 not another week! I'm a bit paranoid about being caught off guard too as my partner is still working and he has the car.. oh for gods sake! 😂

You wouldn't be able to drive yourself in labour anyway, OP, so who has the car is somewhat irrelevant.

Hey @micc I'm in a similar boat to you, although my sweep isn't booked until the 29th! but it's my due date today!
I've been having symptoms for about a month now and feel like the baby is so low he's going to fall out my vag at any time 😂 Every little niggle and twinge I feel like 'oh this is it' only for it to dwindle out!
It's no annoying isn't it! I feel for you!

micc · 22/10/2020 10:07

Yeah.. I just feel like it's going to be like a movie where it just happens so quick 😂 I was induced with my DD so I'm not really familiar with what it feels like. As I went from 0-100 to epidural very quickly 😂
everyone keeps bloody scaring me as well saying they had to give birth at home or in the car and I'm like oh wow fantastic.
@sophs29 it's so frustrating! I feel like a bowling ball is in between my legs but I have to keep walking apparently Haha, that's easier said than done!! Good luck with your sweep! I hope it happens before then for you x

Haha bless you! I wish my labour with my DS was quick like the movies - 23 hours later he finally came out 😂 hoping this one will be quicker!
I know it's horrible isn't it! and I don't find bouncing on the ball overly helpful as afterwards it feels like he's dropped even lower and then I really can't walk far 😩😂
Oh thank you! How did you find the sweep if you don't mind me asking?
