Hi, i am 37 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I am really excited but can't imagine myself with a child, i can't imagine what it will look like, what sex it is etc. I keep having very sad dreams, that the baby dies or is not perfect. I keep looking at friends children and everyone seems to have perfect childern and i want to be in that club too!! I am so worried that i wont. Does anyone else have these fears?

Perfectly normal to have all sorts of weird fears and dreams-

i had some horrendous dreams when pg with ds. i think the worst one was that when he was born he was a tiny pink baby elephant and he crumbled in the midwife's hands. it terrified me and i was sure that he would be deformed in some way. he ended up a healthy 9lb2 bundle of perfection. its very common to have odd dreams and worry about the impending event. HTH

i'm 20wks and only had 2 baby dreams so far. in the second one, i left the baby on the window sill and went about day to day life having forgot all about it...

I had those dreams to. They are normal.

The worst dreams are when I had 2 m/c I dreamed I had baby but it turned into a cat.

very odd

I've been dreaming about people I went to primary school with - very strange when one of them terrified me really badly when I dreamed a boy had his head cut off and it was sent to me in a wooden box. I can still see it no when i close my eyes. Think these hormones are mean!

pigletmaker · 14/10/2007 20:53

yes, and this is my 2nd pregancy

try not to worrry about them - and try not to get overly hot in the night, that makes them worse for me anyway.

lulalullabye · 14/10/2007 20:59

I dreamt with dd1 that I let her die because i didn't water her enough. Somehow she was a sponge and withered away !! I think all the hormones make you so irrational. You end up waking in the morning and prodding them so much to make them move !

macdoodle · 14/10/2007 21:11

Me too 29+4 here - horrid dream last night woke up in real state - funny enough either I didn't have them with my first or I don't remember

IntergalacticWarlock · 14/10/2007 21:21

v normal to have odd dreams.

I had a lot of these.

I also had some unfortunate erotic ones, where I dreamt I shagged people like John Prescott and Noel Edmonds.

Caz10 · 15/10/2007 09:40

I've had v v odd dreams too, but the thing that is concerning me is that NONE of them have to do with babies! 31 weeks and I have yet to dream of ANYTHIHNG to do with having a baby! Think deep down I must be in denial!!

SharpMolarBear · 15/10/2007 09:46

very normal, I also had an awful dream when DS was about 3 days old

claraq · 15/10/2007 10:22

Don't worry - once your baby is born it will be the perfect one and you'll start wondering why you thought your friend's children were all that. Mostly you'll look at them and think Thank God my child doesn't behave like that (etc).

I am mainly dreaming about either losing/forgetting my baby and/or toddler or about names. The other night (in a dream) we had decided to call the baby Milo - no idea where that came from, the only thing i can think of is I had subconsciously been watching the Tweenies....
