North Tyneside Hospital 12 week scan

Anyone who has had a scan at Northumbria trust, specifically North Tyneside General Hospital:

At the 12 week scan do they take the blood test and give you the results the same day for Edwards' and Patau's? Just wondering if I’ll be able to find out there and then or if they will send a letter a few weeks later. Different hospitals seem to do it differently.

Thanks!

I haven’t been there but as far as I know all hospitals take bloods the same day as the scan for those tests.
You will get a letter within 2 weeks with the results unless anything is found in which case you will get a phone call. You won’t get results the same day as the scan.

Hi @MrsWeasely I had my 12 week scan at Wansbeck Hospital but within the same trust and got the blood test the same day. The bloods get sent to the RVI for testing and the results are sent out by letter within 2 weeks (I received mine after a week) unless you're high risk and then you receive a phone call I think within about 3 working days. Good luck! x

I had mine done at North Tyneside (Rake Lane) in September, blood taken at 12 week scan. I received a phone call about 3 days later to tell me they’d detected low Papp-a in my blood sample and they did then also tell me the other screeners had come back low risk (Edwards, downs and Pateau). I then received a letter probably the following week or so to say about the low risk for those, which I think would’ve been the first I’d heard of it if they hadn’t already been calling me about the other thing they detected.

@LauraC1984 and @LittleRa thank you that’s helpful to know. I was just wondering! Such a long wait until scan I was hoping not to have to wait for results afterwards as well! But seems the way most trusts do it.

I had mine at North Tyneside a couple of weeks ago and yes they did bloods after the scan. They said I would get a call within 3 days if high risk or a letter within 2 weeks if low risk. She wouldn’t tell me anything on the day about the nuchal measurement x
