Hey hope everyone is well!

I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant and have lost 3 pounds, Although I am overweight with a bmi of 29 I have NOT been trying to lose weight, I’ve been eating what I want when I want pretty much but getting full much quicker. I’ve had morning sickness but only first thing in morning and have kept all food down. Anyone have any advice or experiences with this?

I’m nearly 26 weeks and so far haven’t put on anything at all. My bmi was around 29 at the 8 week booking appointment and I now have a big bump and no morning sickness at all. I mentioned it to midwife at 24 week appointment and she seemed surprised but just said some women do lose weight during pregnancy. Baby seems healthy though.

@Oneandabean congratulations! Although it does seem nice to come out the other side of pregnancy a little healthier, I made the dreaded mistake of looking online after the midwife said I had ketones in my urine at 8 weeks, now I’m worried my body is in some kind of starvation mode and the baby will have brain damage! I’ve also read that loads of people lose weight or maintain in pregnancy though and go on to have healthy babies!

I’d mention it to the midwife at your next appointment but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. Especially so early on. I’m expecting to start putting on a bit soon as baby starts gaining some weight. I put on 3 stone with my first so it’s been odd not putting on anything this time

@Oneandabean thanks, I’m seeing her next week so will mention it then. Have you had many food aversions etc to not gain? Perhaps it could be our first babies keeping us busy! I don’t remember weighing myself at all with DS and he was 10lbs born!

I weighed 3 stone less the week after I gave birth than I did at my booking in appointment. I had a BMI of 30 to start with. I did find I was eating a little bit less than pre pregnancy but I wouldn’t say my diet was healthy Grin midwife wasn’t concerned as baby was growing nicely. I have to say though I have now put 2 stone back on and am now pregnant again with no sign of the weight loss happening this time Confused

No food aversions, and oldest is 9 now so she does her own thing a lot. I have been doing much more physically demanding work though so maybe I’m just burning more off

eshape · 20/10/2020 21:12

I am 18 weeks pregnant and not gained anything yet either! I have been eating what I want I suppose it will all change when baby starts gaining more weight!

Aprilmay123 · 20/10/2020 21:26

@Rosalie009 oh wow really! Did you not gain anything at all during pregnancy? That’s the same as me really, I don’t think my diet is very healthy to be losing/maintaining weight, I’m having same sort of things as I was before but get really full and start feeling sick. Congratulations on your current pregnancy, just shows how every pregnancy differs!

@eshape strange isn’t it! Yeah I keep stepping on the scales expecting a big gain as I do feel bigger! I’m sure it’ll catch up on us!

@Oneandabean ah yeah could be baby is making use of our fat storage instead of creating it. Just hope it’s all healthy!

That's pretty normal tbh.

I was a bit overweight prior to this pregnancy, I'm now 35 weeks and have only gained just over a stone.
I didn't gain a thing until about 18 weeks.

babygroups · 20/10/2020 22:25

In my first pregnancy I lost a couple of pounds in first trimester but then went onto gain about 3 stone over all.
