It took twenty minutes. I managed two.

Will have to build up to six. Is there a way of making them more palatable?!

I even prefer the raspberry leaf capsules to this.

@Mum2b2020

You only need to eat 2 of the larger mejool dates. 70g day I believe it is.

Be warned, it advances the second stage of labour so you may not want to go home even if the hospital sends you home during early/mid labour. I was sent home 12 hours after my water broke as they said I was still only 4cm. I dont overly believe them as my contractions were 3 in 10 kins etc. Anyway within an hour I had to get back tk the hospital and I was fully dilated and too late for planned waterbirds or epidural.

I love the idea of planned waterbirds Grin

Never heard of this date thing before but anything's worth a try to shorten labour!

Could you bake them into scones or cake/cookies?

StickTheKettleOnAlice · 22/10/2020 13:57

Or add them chopped to granola/porridge?

EveningReflection · 22/10/2020 14:42

I've been eating nakd bars and organix children's apple and date bars. Not exactly sure how many dates each contains though!

Sairafina · 22/10/2020 14:43

Either I have a v.sweet tooth or the dates I bought yesterday really aren't that sweet!

LaMadrilena · 22/10/2020 14:58

Chop them up fine, and mix with fine oats and 100% cocoa. Makes fab chocolate "truffles!"

anguauberwaldironfoundersson · 22/10/2020 15:45

I ate 6 dates every day for god knows how long. I stuffed them with walnuts and covered them in dark chocolate and sprinkled them with sea salt.

I ended up with an unplanned section after failed induction because my cervix was being a knob.

I wish I'd not bothered with the fucking dates

Coffee4me · 22/10/2020 15:53

I filled dates with almond/ peanut butter and then freeze. I think it makes them less sweet. Also maybe worth a soak, before blitzing (porridge, energy balls etc). Also lot of raw cakes use dates as a base, they can normally be frozen as well. If you want to mix it up!

yabu dates are delicious!

My mum makes date flapjack, which is very nice - try that?

Joditaylorfan · 22/10/2020 16:50

Chopped Dates mixed with banana and oats make good biscuits mmm

Joditaylorfan · 22/10/2020 16:53

Baked, obviously...

VirginiaWolverine · 22/10/2020 17:01

Dates are so delicious! I like medjool dates stuffed with a square of 85%cocoa solid chocolate. Dates weren't a thing when I was pregnant so I have no idea how many I ate, but I eat them whenever I can, and fid have quick and easy labours. I think it was probably down to the home birthing mire than the snacks, though.
