Is this early? Maybe I’m expecting twins? 🤣 It’s just my trousers really that are not comfortable any more and so I’ve switched to maternity leggings and jeans which are so comfortable. It does however make my pregnancy more obvious and so I’m only really wearing these comfortable things when I’m home and not going anywhere.
At what stage did people start wearing maternity clothes?

I stopped being able to wear my usual jeans around 15/16wks as was getting bit too tight just mainly wore leggings or dresses. Got a couple pair of maternity jeans at 18wks but the bump part was really baggy! By 22weeks they fitted. With the colder weather now I would get a pair of maternity jeans if you’ll feel comfy in them and just wear loose fitting jumper with them.

LittleTiger007 · 20/10/2020 14:43

@JessicaPeach you are probably right that they will be a little early so you should be alright with newborn size. Everyone tells me they grow out of that very quickly though so I’m guessing 0-3 months for most things is wise.
@alphabetti I haven’t been able to go near my normal jeans for a couple of weeks. I wish I didn’t feel so bloated

I never wore maternity clothes at all. At home
I wear tracksuit bottoms and t shirts. My normal bottoms fitted until I was about 7-7.5 months. Then I just got the next size up in normal clothes. My indoor t shirts fitted the whole time. And going
out clothes again i just got the next size up around the 7 month mark.

I was in maternity from 8 weeks. I was very bloated. At my 8 week booking appointment the midwife thought I was at least 6 months. I’m now almost 26 weeks. I should add I’m definitely only having one baby.

SinkGirl · 20/10/2020 17:45

I had twins four years ago. I was massive by the end but only had bloating early on - it went down and the actual bump appeared about 17 weeks.

Screwcorona · 20/10/2020 17:48

I'm 9weeks tomorrow and super bloated. Most likely what it is at moment as baby should be about the size of a bean, do even two wont be a bump. Fingers crossed for twins for you though

mintich · 20/10/2020 19:21

I was wearing maternity clothes at 9 weeks! It is my third baby though and I always have quite a big bump

LittleTiger007 · 20/10/2020 20:20

Yes I hear you @Screwcorona the baby will be the size of an olive but the uterus is the size of a grapefruit apparently with one baby. Most certainly therefore my stomach is mainly bloat!
It’s encouraging to hear of others in maternity gear at this at age though!

I thought I’d come back and report that I have now discovered why I was needing a looser waistband so early! It turns out I’m expecting twins!! 🙂🥰

@LittleTiger007 congratulations!! Hope it all goes smoothly for you

MumChats · 02/11/2020 11:05

My clothes were tight almost immediately (especially things like skinny jeans as pp suggested) - but it wasn't the baby/uterus it was definitely bloat. My stomach felt hard too, i think that's because the expansion was caused by it inflating rather than a squishy feeling for if it had been fat. Pregnancy is such fun isn't it! My sister in law had exactly the same thing - she was only about 6 weeks pregnant when she told me she couldn't do up her jeans any more!

Good luck anyway - hope it is twins if that's what you want!

LittleTiger007 · 02/11/2020 11:11

I’m thrilled to be expecting twins. After years of infertility we conceived these naturally in our 40s. 🙂 no other children.

Ahhh wonderful! I was rooting for twins from the start!

SweetSiren · 02/11/2020 11:52

Thank goodness I'm not the only one lol, I've been thinking should I get some as my stomachs so bloated my clothes make it uncomfortable. I'm only 9 weeks on Wednesday too.

Reclinehard · 02/11/2020 11:57

Aw yaay, only saw your post today but scrolled down hoping for that update! Congratulations ☺️

MnM156 · 02/11/2020 12:43

I am having a singleton but was in maternity pants by 10/11 weeks. Didn't have a bump then but something was going on in there. Maybe a lot of bloating which made regular clothes very uncomfortable.

Amelia891 · 02/11/2020 12:48

Huge Congrats @LittleTiger007! I am also expecting twins, I’m 13 weeks currently. When are you due? I’m massive already 😂

troppibambini · 02/11/2020 12:48

Aaah that's so lovely huge congratulations FlowersFlowers

LittleTiger007 · 02/11/2020 17:00

Yay @Amelia891 I am due on 20th May although they will probably arrive early I guess! I’m only 11 wks 5 days and actually a little less bloated than I was. It’s good to just embrace the comfy maternity waistbands though! @SweetSiren embrace the maternity leggings - they are so much more comfortable!

After a career as a nursery then infant teacher... it’s going to be nice to finally have my own. 🥰

We’re pretty close then, my due date is 9th May but obviously expecting them to be April babies. I’ve actually got my 12 week scan Weds (when I’m 13+4 so very late annoyingly!) but had a private scan at 9 weeks where we found out they were twins! Do you know what type yours are? MCDA etc? Are you going to find out what you’re having? x
