Meant to do a shepherds pie yesterday but didn't get round to it- mince went out of date yesterday and am hesitant about eating it as I'm 6 weeks pregnant. Normally I'll eat anything if it smells ok, would appreciate everyone's thoughts.
Thank you.

Mince will be fine if it smells ok xx

TheFoz · 19/10/2020 17:22

Why risk giving yourself food poisoning? Ditch it.

Yesterday is fine, the dates on them are j us t a guide. Once it's cooked though it will be fine

Mc3209 · 19/10/2020 19:45

If it smells and looks ok, it will be fine cooked.

What do you mean by "out of date"? Is it a Use By date, or a Best Before date?

PolarBearStrength · 19/10/2020 19:59

I’d use it if it smells okay.

MegaBloxRoxx · 19/10/2020 20:54

I wouldn't eat meat past its use by date even if not pregnant, so definitely no!

Hatscats · 19/10/2020 22:10

I’d use it. It will smell if it’s off.

biteysaurus · 20/10/2020 18:30

Thanks all, it smelled fine and tasted lovely.

Lovely to hear OP! I had chicken that was 3 days past the 'date' on Monday - if it smells fine it is fine. Total waste to ditch it - no wonder there's a climate crisis!
