I had a early scan doctors think I'm 4.5/5 weeks pregnant but my pregnancy app is saying I'm 6 weeks pregnant from my last period so does this scan look normal for that as I'm worrying nowConfused I have another scan on the 26th to see how it's developing

Is this scan normal

Did the doctors say it looked normal? They'd be best at interpreting this. It's very common for babies to measure behind where you'd think they would be from last period; mine was 1.5 weeks behind at epu scan and is doing great now at 28 weeks.

Early scans aren’t an exact science. You may well have ovulated a bit later too.

It looks similar to my first scan with DS. My dates would have made me almost 11 weeks (irregular periods) but they said I was 4-5 weeks. Two weeks later they dated me at 6+2, and at my 12 week scan they added another few days on.

Doctors say it looks fine but I have pcos so I'm worrying like crazy! I have another scan on the 26th to see how it's developing so I'm guessing that's so they can give me a proper estimate of how far gone I am

That's exactly what mine looked like at 4 and half weeks. Went back 2 weeks later and in the black little hole was a baby with a heart beat xxx

If you have long cycles going on your LMP will always make you further along than you actually are as its based on a 28 day cycle. So basically you're already 2 weeks when you ovulated. So add on how many weeks since ovulation to 2 and that will give you a more accurate date. X

TheDaydreamBelievers · 17/10/2020 08:32

Yeah irregular cycles throws off the dates. Cant trust estimates made on LMP with PCOS. Chances are 5 weeks is correct . Also early scans can jump around A LOT with estimated dates as its hard to see anything

I have odd cycles and the nhs think based on LMP I'm 9+6 but I'm pretty sure based on ovulation +2weeks I am 7+6. I will find out at the nhs scan (12+1 by their count 10+1 on mine!)

I agree with the others, it's very hard to date with pcos especially that early and variable ovulation dates. Looking good though OP, congratulations Smile.
If I were you when you finally tell the world don't be too specific with your due date or (add a couple of weeks) so you don't get stressed by all of the well meaning "is it here yet" messages... My dd's were two weeks late and one woman still kept asking at every school run when she was standing next to me..
