So ladies. Sorry TMI

I'm 12 weeks postpartum and I'm having my first period 😭 joys! Have not missed these bastards!

Anyhow Iv just gone to insert a tampon and I can only get it half a fingers length up there and literally it will not go any further. I'm pushing and pushing it !
It needs to go about half an inch more but it is impossible !

What the hell is going on? I haven't had sex yet as my episiotomy has had granulation tissue inside which got removed 1.5 weeks ago so was painful to touch.

Was not painful to insert just felt like something was there blocking my vagina ?

Have you tried feeling with your fingers? Maybe your angle was wrong

madcatladyforever · 17/10/2020 08:26

It sounds like your uterus is in the way. Can you feel your cervix with your fingers? Sometimes it can prolapse a bit. Mine did and remained so, it was difficult to wear tampons after that but sex was OK. It should improve if you do some pelvic floor exercises. Maybe the GP or practice nurse could take a look.

MegaBloxRox · 17/10/2020 08:27

No expert, but sounds like a possible prolapse. I would see your GP.

Disappointedkoala · 17/10/2020 08:40

Speak to your GP. I had an episiotomy and couldn't use tampons for about 6 months after as they were so uncomfortable.

LadyFannyButton · 17/10/2020 11:15

Swelling after the tissue removal?

After having a vaginal procedure I was so swollen I was practically closed up- no pain at all but I was trying to tentatively feel and couldn’t even get inside more than the tip of my finger- it took a couple of weeks to go down which was longer than I expected.

rainbowMIT · 17/10/2020 12:06

Oh lord prolapse did cross my mind. It must be fairly high up if it is.
I'll try feel with fingers 🤮 I'm a bit scared.
I'll get my doctor to check me out next week.

Ladies Iv had a feel in the bath.
Ok this is weird. So you have your vulva..then your vagina opening. About an inch or so further up it's like another vagina opening? Is that a prolapse?
It's soft, you can't go anywhere either side so I assume that's what the tampon is hitting and there's a hole in the middle? I didn't investigate any further I was utterly freaked out by this point. But it's safe to say it's not normal!

Sounds like your cervix

BlenheimOrange · 17/10/2020 21:58

That’s your cervix.

Dillybear · 17/10/2020 22:01

I spoke to my GP about this and she said this is really normal, and that often it’ll just go back to normal on its own within six months of giving birth. I’m eight months on and I haven’t had a period yet so haven’t tried to use a tampon, but I did the regular pelvic floor exercises and everything feels fine again. I would speak to your GP just to make sure you’re okay and to put your mind at rest.

rainbowMIT · 17/10/2020 22:15

If it's my cervix there very very soft. I could stick my finger through them?
Definitely didn't feel like this before I had my baby as I don't believe I could get up far enough to feel them before.

Iv done a lot of pelvic floors, however I'm still in agony with my lower back pain. I'm guessing some sort of ligament damage so don't no if the whole area may require a lot of strengthening. Had an mri 4 weeks ago just awaiting results still.

I couldn't use tampons any more after I had my first child. I could almost feel the scar of my tear. She is now 18! I can use a moon cup though
